The 10 most romantic restaurants in the NOLA Metro

On Valentine's Day we remember the life of St. Valentine, who died for the cause of peacefully spreading the ideas of love to the nations. A couple of revisionist historians with an axe to grind against Christianity have doubted his existence. Hmmpf. I care, but not that much to investigate. What we do remember on Valentine's Day that love is our reason for being, and there is no more pure an expression of love than a righteous person dying for someone who does not deserve it. Let love rule this Valentine's Day.
New Orleans is occasionally called the Paris of America, and for good reason. American romance was invented on the banks of the Mississippi at Jackson Square. Even while the city was being built and floods poured in and yellow fever epidemics killed, the romantics of New Orleans showed America how to love romantically. Of course, we need to distinguish between divine love, brotherly love, and romantic love, but that can be saved for another topic. Needless to say, romantic love has been spliced into the DNA of New Orleans and Orleanophiles have been replicating it ever since.
As always, your feedback is desired. Highlight omissions, unwarranted inclusions, and personally insult me. All for the good of knowledge.
10) Herbsaint - With the streetcar rattling and rumbling past and the iconic Lafayette Square near, one knows she's in New Orleans. In the restaurant, the lighting is ideal and clean.
9) Impastato's - It's dim lighting, stained glass, and seclusion lend to its canticle: l'amore e nell'aria.
8) Galvez - Of all the restaurants on the list, it has the most unimpressive food. But its view of the romantic Lover of Waters far surpasses all the others.
7) Bistro Daisy - Sometimes reminds me of the atmosphere at Herbsaint, but Magazine St. style.
6) La Crepe Nanou - Close your eyes and you might believe you're on Rue St. Germain.
5) Iris - The most romantic restaurant in the Quarter, IMO.
4) Cafe Degas - Its lush botanical surroundings and twinkling lights create a fairy land feel.
3) Ristorante da Piero - Cozy, quiet, warm, and unknown. If you want to tell your sweetie pie a secret, RdP is a great spot.
2) Rue 127 - It's so small you have to be in love to entertain the notion of being here. But somehow, you may leave thinking you had the most romantic meal of your life. Brocato's is across the street if you need any more prodding.
1) La Provence - The last time I stayed at Chateau Talaud, I woke up confused because it smelled exactly like La Provence on the north shore. It's a long, scary drive to get there, but it is very much the most romantic restaurant in the Metro.

What? no love for the noodle bar at Whole Foods. The smell of the smoked burgers is enough alone to set the mood.

Nice list. On a nice evening the patio at La Martinique would be on my top ten for sure.

Negative. Shouldn't be this high on your list or even at all. Could easily be replaced with Lillette or Martinique Bistro (patio is great). Rue 127 is far too bright and poorly arranged to be considered romantic. It's very difficult to have an intimate evening at a restaurant with fluorescent bulbs and loud conversations happening two feet away. Plus the food is mediocre.

Takeout RUE 127 for sure. Most uncomfortable restaurants I've ever visited.
Impastatos doesn't do it for me for romance either.
Put in August.
Good list though.

A little cheesy for me to include on the list.
Agree on August.

I havent been to enough of these to comment really but all in all a good list, especially Degas. Probably would have put Martinique on as well

ive eaten recently at rue 127 and had a great meal. but it is really bright in there and you are all up on your neighbors, which is not the idea of a romantic evening for most.

I would argue that Muriel's and Chateau du Lac should be on the list. Muriel's has great food, is nicely decorated, and borders Jackson Square. Chateau du Lac has great atmosphere and serves nice French food which many people consider anything French romantic.

That's okay, neither has the OP.

The worst is smelling the smoked burgers and knowing you can't have one because the ASSHOLES don't put them on the menu.

Was this ripped straight from the website?

I agree with everyone else...
Definitely NOT Rue 127, and add August.

The pile up continues. It's funny how one negative comment can turn into an avalanche. Rue 127 most certainly deserves to be on the list. August is a great restaurant, but romantic? It's too fancy to be romantic and many of the tables put you at a good distance from the other, especially in the front room. The middle room is more romantic. But overall, I would never think of August as romantic.
As for the hate for Impastato's, did you know in the last twenty years, Impastato's has hosted more marriage proposals than any other Metro restaurant? It might not be Comus romantic. But it's every bit Endymion-Argus romantic.

pretty good list. Rdp is high on my romantic list. I also like Muriel's.
No "feelings cafe"?

Probably not the most formal date place but I would put Jamila's on the list as far as the places that I've been.
