In 2014 the average cost of thanksgiving dinner for 10 people was under $50.

My local Kroger has the frozen #12 birds for $54.99

I would try one at that price. I love Popeyes fried chicken.

I don't know why you guys laugh at this, $50 for 10 people is easily doable.

Do I think that's average or most costs? No of course not.

Turkeys are 79 cents a lb, get a 15 lb bird for $12.

Mash potatoes are what like $1 each at most?

Some rolls

One other side

Dessert

Yes most people go ridiculous including my wife and mother, but you end up with enough food for 3 days and like 5 meals after.

ETA: The reason fried turkeys are expensive is the time it takes to cook them. 3 mins or so per lb and a 15 lb bird takes 45 mins. There's only so many birds a place can make due to lack of space, even if you bake them before hand and then fry it still takes time.

I mean, $30 for a 14-15 lb turkey + $45 for enough peanut oil to fry it = $75 to do it yourself. $100 doesn't feel too unreasonable.

Winn-Dixie has off-brand turkeys that are good for frying for $.49 a lb. and Butterball brand turkeys for $.99 a lb. until Tuesday according to last weeks sales ad.
