I bought this seasoning at Costco because we eat tacos quite a bit, especially when the kids are home for the summer. This stuff is really good. Costco used to carry the large container of McCormick, but I didn't bother, because I'm not a big fan of their packets of taco seasoning, so I didn't want to buy the industrial sized one.

I use it on chicken and beef.

This one has some heat, and apparently, Costco customers are complaining because this taco seasoning is too hot for kids.

Anyone else out there like this stuff?

The smoked paprika definitely gives a hint of smoke.

I use a lot of those same things in the rub I do at home.

Not saying it’s bad at all.

2 of my kids think it’s too spicy, the others don’t care. I like the flavor of the McCormick and Tone’s brands more than the Spice Lab brand so we won’t be buying it again.

While I tend to make my own taco seasoning, I will definitely try it out. The reason I make my own is because most of the pre packaged ones suck.

I will say, though, Hola Nolas taco seasoning is much much better than any of the other major brands.

Very strange because this stuff is made in FL, but pretty sure the container we bought from Costco is from a trip to the Rockies in 2018? Expires in a month.

It’s not “too spicy”, but it’s too heavy on the chipotle flavor. Got about 1/3rd of the container left.

ETA: The label color (light) and top (silver) are a different color, but same ingredients as what you posted. It’s 100% the chipotle flavor and not the “heat”.

Anytime you have a product with a strong flavor profile, you will have people who love it and people who dislike it. I do like the smoky heat. I think the tomatoe powder also adds a little something.

I was looking at McCormicks list of ingredients: Spices (Including Chili Pepper, Paprika, Oregano), Corn Starch, Salt, Onion, and Garlic. The best I can say about it is that it is not offensive and it's all natural.

Interesting reply. Usually add chile de arbol to anything approaching Mexican food.

And where did I mention McCormicks?

You didn't. Someone else mentioned that they preferred it, and it is what Costco carried before they started carrying this stuff.

It’s all we use at my house. The sweet spot for the kids is 3TB per the 1.25 lb Costco size ground beef packages. It’s very good.

I too have decided that most all store bought taco seasonings do suck. Share your favorite recipe please?

I just ordered a small jar from Spice Lab directly. Pretty dang tasty. It’s got a nice flavor and little zip to it. At 4T/lb it might be too hot for the weak or faint of heart, but just sticking my finger in the jar and tasting it I didn’t think it hot.
