Taking the SO out for her birthday. Looking for best steak / seafood options. All I’m really finding is Ruffinos.

The best seafood/steak option is Vestal. Though, I don't know if I would classify any of Lafayette's restaurants as "fine dining".
ETA: IMO, Vestal is the best restaurant in the city.

It's downtown. IMO, their seafood dishes really stand out. Tuna crudo, crab spaghetti, fish of the day, and the whole fish are my favorites. They also have prime steaks, and cook almost everything over an open flame that you can see if their kitchen.

I want to like Vestal more, but their dishes never seem to be what they could be. Also, it's amazingly loud. Pamplona is a better call downtown, IMO.

Agreed, though Vestal has the best caesar I've ever had and that tuna crudo is excellent. Everything else I've had there has been fine, but nothing really blew me away

I don’t know if I’ve had a better entree than the crab spaghetti, catch of the day, or whole fish anywhere else in the city.

Marcello's is my favorite steak I've had in Lafayette. It's also nice setting for a date.

You've got to make reservations a few weeks in advance.
There is no other way. Plus, sometimes they are closed for a few weeks at a time for vacation.
Jane's is an absolute MUST, though. Find a way to work it into your schedule the next time you'll be in this area.

Park Bistro is also interesting. Different style of menu. Chef spent some time in the kitchen at Craft NYC.

For a nice date night, I’m taking her to Marcello’s 9 out of 10 times.
