Love Marcelo’s generally, but they also heavily abuse the worst tendencies in Acadiana restaurant cooking; oversaucing.

It's "fine Italian", so yeah, definitely in regards to steaks.

Just like an Italian place out in Katy that we like alot, I have to ask them to just season the steak and not put sauce on it. However, both Marcello's and the place in Katy cook it to a PERFECT rare plus.

Marcello's ... meatballs are hard to beat...chicken picatta and the wine selection is one of best in the city with decent pricing.

Vestal is our favorite “fine dining”. Only been twice as it is the most expensive meal in the city.

Jane’s is great. The best atmosphere is the courtyard during an October/November cool night, or inside next to the hearth on a cold night. Can’t beat that overall experience anywhere else.

Charley G’s is always consistent. Probably your best bet for what you are looking for.

My favorite dish in Lafayette might be the pork cheek marsala at Marcello's

Is that the one served over risotto? If so, that has been my best meal in the city. They have only had it once when I was there.

Imonellis is classy. Everything is good. Always a winner with women. Haven’t had their steaks but their veal is a wonderful substitute. Great seafood and great ambiance. Prices are reasonable. Service is good. They don’t whack and stack customers or rush you. I almost hate telling anyone this. Like Gino’s used to be in Baton Rouge.

In no specific order:

Vestal
Jane's
Charley G's
Ruth's Chris
Marcellos
iMonelli

Ruffinos is good, but, in my opinion, all of the above are better.

Pamplona, the new Park City Bistro, Cafe Bella are also great options that I would not consider "fine dining" but have fantastic food.

No its served on its own with the marsala/mushroom sauce. On the plate is a serving of smaller spaghetti noodles with shaved garlic. Wild that its my one of my favorite dishes and I am not a big mushroom fan.

Ate their last night. Its a top 5 restaurant in town and has been for a long time. Between their steaks, seafood, and appetizers. Owner also great guy
