Headed to Houston for the LSU game this weekend. I will have the wife and a 3 and 5 year old. I want to hit Truth BBQ on Saturday. What kind of wait do you think they will have? Keeping the kids still proves challenging

I think we could handle getting there at 10:30, but even then, the wait will be an hour. Especially with all the people coming into the city for the games and rodeo

Skip Truth and go to Pinkerton’s, Pit Room, J-Bar-M…J-Bar-M has a huge patio I let my kids run wild at.

Truth is really good, well worth the wait. Get the moist brisket, jalapeño sausage. corn pudding and hash brown casserole. Can’t go wrong

Can order online ahead of time but it's a long wait (hr) if planning on 11ish.

Agree with the Pinkerton's recommendation as well.

We may go by Sunday before we head out. The wait probably won't be as long. Thanks for the input

Skip truth and hit Cobos. Best bbq in the state hands down and that place is a well oiled machine as far as how they run their business.

this.

If you have the ability to haul a small cooler, bring some ziplocks and order it online. I think they have a $200-250 min to order online. We order online at the Brenham location and you skip the line.

Save some time and drive to Lockhart TX and it up the local spots.
You’ll be back in H-Town by the time you’d finish up at Truth…
Or even better just drive to Brenham and hit up the original.

Truth on weekdays is not bad at all - no idea of Saturday.

Need to try Cobos, but saying they are best in the state????

Driving to Lockhart when Truth is better than any joint there seems like questionable advice. Lockhart has nostalgia, but those places lost their edge a long time ago. None of them are even ranked in the Texas Monthly list any longer .......for a reason

I was at Blacks recently, the beef rib and brisket was as good as ever. I don’t care much for Kruez. Smitty’s was ok the couple of times I tried it.
I was trolling when I suggested driving to Lockhart to save time. There is no way I’d wait an hour plus in line for Truth, even though I think it’s fantastic. In that area for that time this Saturday, I would go to pinkerton’s or the pit room.
Might even consider driving to Pearland for Killen’s.

Why drive all the way to Pearland when you can go literally across the street to Killen's off Washington and get a plate of their mediocre bbq without driving 30 minutes.

The BBQ is not on the same level as the Pearland location. I’ve tried both.

Can't help you on the line wait. It won't be a constant though.

There are probably at least a dozen top shelf BBQ joints throughout the city. So unless your heart is set on Truth, you may want to weigh your options.

BTW, Truth is great. Just letting you know there are multiple excellent options out there.

Offshoreangler is pretty dialed in to the food scene but disagree on Killens. The Pearland joint is great all the way around.

Best brisket I've had is a toss up between LABBQ and it.
