Renovating recently closed down Riverside bar, don’t know when they’re planning on opening, just see a couple of banners hanging.

Good spot? Never been to the one in Nola, looks like it could be decent bbq and may have a chance to be successful considering there’s not much else in terms of bbq around here

Meh.

20 years ago the one in NOLA was a cool lunch spot and prettt cheap. Haven't been in a few years so things may change, but don't expect it to be great.

Was at the one in N.O. last week. Good bar atmosphere but bbq about a 7. Two meat combo was $22 . Ribs are an up charge.

Sticks ain’t far and it’s awesome but obviously a different vibe than the riverfront.

I said to my buddies the other day Blue Oak should have opened up in the old riverside. They would have made an absolute killing. Oh well

They probably wouldn't want to stretch themselves too thin with the recent opening at Avenue Pub and the Alabama location under construction.

Building is a complete shite hole and is deemed a historic structure. The amount of smoke that accumulated on everything left behind after Riverside left was astounding the several times I was inside of it the last few months.

The construction cost required to bring it back to life will result in absurd food and drink prices. I do not see this being a long-term venture for BBQ on the riverfront.

I just finished lunch there and cannot fathom ever making a return trip.

The menu is atrocious to say the least. It is vastly over priced and the service was just as bad.

I was skeptical how it would be. Is it at least good for drinks?

Inside looks fine. The food and drink prices seemed absurd to me. I can't see many people sitting there paying $5 to $8 per beer for a long period of time.

No item on their Southshore menu is on this one. $18 for a lunch burger is insane. There is no BBQ at this location. The waitress said they plan to have "Specials" from the NO location in the next few months, but will limit the quantity of (1) item to 25 or 30 per day. Whomever the marketing genius is here needs to be replaced or they won't make it long.

What’s going on here? Is it closed already?
Pretty prophetic words from you if so.

Yes, it closed several months ago.

I know several other restaurants have shown interest in the place. I haven’t heard lately if a deal has been made or not. The one that showed the most interest was a local Mexican establishment.

but bbq about a 7

Hope you're not saying this like it's a bad thing. Any bbq in the state of Louisiana being a 7 would be excellent.

Sticks is about the best BBQ on the Northshore.

Desi Vega's smokehouse was more upscale but I thought they were great. Was sad to see them replace it with just another DV Steakhouse with guady interior.

Apparently the owner was thieving or getting thieved, not too sure on that just a rumor with little detail I heard. Didn’t help the food sucked, we went there once a few weeks after it opened and were thoroughly unimpressed.

They did make it into a cool space and opening up upstairs was nice

That concept didn’t last long

As to the Mexican rumors, don’t see Habaneros opening there as they’re usually smaller. Hopefully at least as it seems like we have 100 locations already.

Can’t believe there isn’t more food competition on the River. The Anchor is good for what it is and trivers is a redneck experience but that’s it.
