We've got a Walk Ons opening up near my office sometime in the next month or two.

Never been to one, and I know it is a LA based chain. Any recommendations on what to get/not get?

Used to be a lot of hate for the place and I really did not want to like it, they opened one about 10 minutes from the office and never had a bad meal there

My favorites are the fish tacos, blackened chicken sandwich, and all of the salads are good

Boom Boom Shrimp
Angels on Horseback
Ahi wrap

ahi salad
cobb (chicken) salad
pepper jelly shrimp salad

you'll probably get a lot of bullshite negative comments here. ignore them. its decent for a chain restaurant and good enough for lunch during the work week.

I can't speak for much of the menu, cause I try to eat light(er) at lunch and that's primarily when I go. But coworkers eat the burgers and other stuff and never complain. They usually make positive comments about their meal. And I'm in the plate lunch, food capital of SWLA.

It is a decent place to hang out, catch sports on the tv's, nice beer selection as well and you don't ever feel rushed there

I liked their original menu but they've removed a lot of things I used to like

I still can't believe they don't serve wings

They used to. They served me some that were still cold and bloody at the original walk-ons back in the day.

It is pretty good now. I just ordered from there.

Not anymore. Most people around here agree it has gotten much better.

I like the sliders, the black jack chicken sandwich, and the mozz sticks. Nothing wildly unique about them if that's what you're going for, but I think they do them really well.

Where is this? The only Alabama location I see is in Mobile.

If you look at it from the prospective of, where can I go to a sports bar and get above average food Walks Ons is your answer.

One thing I did not like there was the gumbo.

That said, not normally where I go for food and sports and or for lunch.

Guessing he's talking about the one on 119 just off 280 in that new development. The Publix there opens in a couple of weeks.

The regular cheeseburger is pretty decent. I don't really go there to eat so if I do it's usually just appetizers while I'm drinking. Blackened gator, boom boom shrimp or whatever it's called and cheese fries are my go to apps.

It was started by two former LSU walk on hoops players.
Drew Brees is an investor and they've done a nice job of franchising them out and the quality is pretty consistent wherever you go.

Voodoo Shrimp
Blackjack Chicken Sandwich
Stuffed Burger
Catfish Atchafalaya

I usually rotate between these things. It's a cool sports bar/restaurant.
