Anybody worked at a Piccadilly, Golden Corral or other restaurants with a buffet? I know at closing time there’s still a lot of food not served.

Not a cafeteria but we donate what we can to a local food bank. The rest either goes home with employees or ends up in the trash.

In high school I worked fast food. Preacher man would come get scraps each night to hand out to the homeless but then one got sick and sued us so we had to stop.

I know at my grade school cafeteria, the lunchroom ladies would take the leftovers home. They were real stingy serving up the good stuff and wouldn’t let you get seconds!

When I worked at Canes, they would donate the unused bread.

In my days at Pepperoni's Pizza, buffet pizza went in the garbage. If you gave it away, they would show up nightly expecting it

If their life has taken them down a path that led to being an elementary school lunch lady, just let em have it.

A lot of places just throw it away. I have a friend that works at a local deli and she said you wouldnt believe the amount of food they just toss. Theyve tried donating it but some places wont take it because its not sealed. End of the day its just easier and more cost effective to just toss it.
Also one of the problems, like somebody else alluded to, is if you start giving it away you start to get an element that you dont want hanging around.

Worked at TGIFridays in Metairie eons ago, and this is why we discarded about 100 pounds, or more, of baked potato pulp every night that was gathered from scooping potato skins. Very heartbreaking to waste so much edible food, but we live in a litigious society.

A lot just toss it. Some places, like Vegas, send it to farms for feed

Leftovers, everyone loves them.

Piccadilly, Golden Corral
I hate these places. I don't like buffets because I hate the idea of a bunch of people hoovering over the food I am going to eat.
The only buffet I like is the one at the Bellagio, but its not out to where people can hoover over it.

I worked at Gattis for a year out of HS. They would let us take the leftover buffet pizza home if we wanted. Needless to say we ate a lot of pizza for a while.
