High end - Jane’s, Vestal ….
Cafe Sydnie Mae, Mazen Grill, and Cafe Josephine all have excellent food and less expensive than Janes / Vestal.
Creole - Laura’s II, Creole Lunch House, Glenda’s (Breaux Bridge). Probably a dozen other small “hole in the wall” places in Opelousas, Plaisance, St. Martinville, Breaux Bridge, that serve amazing food and operated by mothers and daughters.
Cajun - even in Lafayette, the term “Cajun food” has become commercialized on restaurant menus targeting tourists. If you want Cajun food that was served as family meals decades ago, it’s hard to beat Dwyers or Poche Bridge (Breaux Bridge) … both serve a variety of outstanding plate lunch meals.

My personal favorite restaurant is French Press. It has several dishes that are 10/10 for me and I have trouble deciding which one I want when I go. That along with their literal option of a French press of coffee makes for a killer combination of good food and relaxing hangout.
Is there better in Lafayette? It is a personal preference. This is mine.

IMO, Vestal is the best in Lafayette.

I really like Pamplona however I've never been to several mentioned above. We also like Marcello's and Charley G's.

Vestal. One of the few restaurants in the area worth the price of the food.

Been twice. I don’t think it’s bad, just overpriced for what it is.

It’s definitely expensive and loud, but I like a lively atmosphere and IMO the whole fish is the best menu item in the city.

I'm just a simple guy with simple taste and have always enjoyed Poor Boys Riverside Inn.

I like Poor Boy's Riverside Inn as well. Their lump crab entree is great.
I also like Bon Temps Grill, and don't sleep on Acadiana Superette

I ate at vestal last night, it was much better than I remembered it. It had been a while because of a couple meh experiences

Certainly will give Bon Temps Grill a shot.

Vestal is the best restaurant. Only dined there a handful of times, but I left each time satisfied and happy. Yes, it’s the most expensive meal in town, but it can be when it’s that good.

Maybe not the best restaurant, but my favorite dish in Lafayette is the braised pork cheeks and risotto at Marcelo's.
