Cottonseed oil is best. 450 degree smoke point, taste better than other vegetable/seed oils, it lasts a long time in deep fryers before breaking down/discoloring food and is cheaper than peanut oil.

Peanut oil at 350 degrees is the ticket

I use Hog lard. Get it from some guys who make crackling.

I just fried some fresh trout in canola and grapeseed combo. That’s all I had in the kitchen.
Came out real good.

So everyone buying peanut oil huh?
While I agree that I like peanut oil for frying, my cheap arse ain’t buying that stuff for every fish fry. Yes I know it can be filtered and reused.
I usually just get some cheap vegetable oil unless it’s going to be a very large cookout in which I’ll spring for a big box of peanut oil or the frying oil.
