Heading west hunting tomorrow and would like to hit something between Shreveport and Dallas for lunch. Gracias

I've been to Stanley's in Tyler and it is good. Don't know if it's the best along that stretch, but Texas monthly keeps it in its top 50.
If you want something more rustic, try Pat Gees. It's just off the I20 as well. It is literally a shack with what looks to be a cinder block pit. I liked it for pretty good barbecue and the lack of polish, so to speak.

Kilgore exit at Hwy 42 has a Bodacious immediately off the ramp. It's a favorite of our family for around 30+ years.

Aren't there two Bodacious barbecues with different owners?

I've eaten at Bodacious before I believe many moons ago..

There are several...some are franchises.

If you have time to wonder on the way home, hit Texas BBQ Corral on I-30 in Mt. Vernon.

Bodacious Mobberly in Longview is the location that was featured in Texas Monthly's Top 50 a few years back and is independently owed and operated.
My wife and I drove over from Shreveport a few years back and really enjoyed it.

Can't say...I never go to any but the Hwy 42 intersection one. It was an old, original location that was rebuilt a few years ago.

Stanley's in Tyler is good.
Joseph's Riverport BBQ in Jefferson is another good choice.
Both are about a 20-25 minute drive from I-20. Joseph's is due north of Marshall. His hot water cornbread was one of the few sides that got singled out for praise in the recent Texas Monthly Top 50 roundup. The restaurant has been in the top 50 before and is honorable mention this time.
Porky's in Marshall is much closer to I-20. Can't vouch for their BBQ, but their fried catfish is very good. The portions are huge. A "2 piece" is more like 4 anywhere else.

Jim's Bar-B-Q in Waskom is pretty good. It has to be the easiest on and off the interstate.
It's the 1st exit in Texas and their driveway is 170 yards from the exit ramp on the right.

Bodacious in Longview off Mobberly. Stanley's in Tyler. I would go to the Country Tavern in Kilgore off 31.
