Went to Sugarfish in Los Angeles and it was one of the best meals ever. I've been to luvi a while back, but we didn't do the chef's course and it was alright (we did the full on feed me at sugarfish).

Any recs in the NOLA or BR area?

BR is Umami

I hear Nagomi is THE spot right now in NOLA. But you gotta basically be in the know to get a reservation.

Nagomi is reservations several weeks out as soon as they go up, and that’s if you’re lucky.

It is amazing though.

Very regular sushi in the Nola area I like Daiwa and Kanno

Besides the others mentioned here, I've heard fantastic things about Yo Nashi in New Orleans. Hoping to make it there soon.

They are an omakase alternative to Nagomi

Nagomi is so far above anything else in the area. Nothing else even comes remotely close.

Send the downvotes but the best bang for your buck is Sushi Masa by a long shot

Sushi Masa is one of these 5 restaurants with the most health code violations... this wouldn't bother me if it was a place like waffle house or another hole in the wall place. But if I am eating sushi, I want it to be prepped in a near perfect condition place.

4 years, do you think restaurants get cleaner with age? Could have been 10 years ago, still left a nasty taste in my mouth.

I don’t eat raw sushi, so I’m not that worried

Second. Not super hip or creative but the fish is always super fresh and the rolls are solid

I don't understand the downvotes on your post. Umami is still the best sushi in BR and it isn't close.

[e]: Apparently there's a huge disconnect between the definition of "cheapest with the most food" and "best" on TD.

Agreed. Haven’t been to Nagomi yet.
