Where can I get live oysters in Baton Rouge?

I called Tony’s and they are out. Anywhere else that the F&D board would recommend?

I always had a hell of a time finding live oysters when I lived in BR. Try calling seafood markets around town, but I think Tony's is the only place I ever had any luck. I usually ended up buying out the small stock that Whole Foods has on hand, which was never more than about 3 dozen.

There's another place in town that has been mentioned more than once in prior threads. Try a search, though the search function seems to be a piece of rancid crap, in my humble opinion.

I've been buying them in boxes lately 100 (8.4 doz) for $25.
But that's in NOLA. I'm bringing some fish to a friend in BR Saturday though. if you can't find any before now and then possible maybe could work something out, if you could pick up in Mid-City (Govt&Acadian area)

Restaurant Depot.
The Droppie winning poster of the FOOD board schooled me on this place, and now I go there all the time. Plus no taxes

@ Napoleon, Tonys got more in today. Thanks

The ones in the sacks are not gulf oysters. The gulf oysters there are I beleive .45 each.
Tonys and sometimes LA Boilers has them.. I was suprised and got a small sack at Sams one time for like 9 dollars for gulf oysters. Not sure if they still get them.

One good thing about Restaurant Depot is that you can pick out the oysters you want and where they come from. Just look on the tag of the side of the box and look for the area and state you want. Some areas have larger oysters and some areas are saltier. When I was there I was requesting all Louisiana oysters but I'm not sure how it is now.
