White meat vs dark meat debate

I grew up hearing that white meat (chicken breast) was healthier for you than dark meat. Leaner, less fat, etc.
I know eating guidelines have changed. Which do you prefer, and does healthiness factor into what type of chicken you eat AND how you prepare it?

thigh

Nailed it.
ETA- Breasts may be preferable to legs when eating Popeye's because of all the delicious skin, but it's close.

Dark meat is for the hoi polloi.

They each have their place.

Yep. Only thing I would add is flats then drums when talking about wings.

At some point in my life I realized a chicken breast is no match for a thigh.

Exactly. Depends on the dish for what is best. Fried I will always reach for the thigh and leg first. Grilled/baked will always be breast for me. Same with pastas and such. Crockpot or any braised will be thighs. Smoked? Thighs.
So yeah it really all depends.

Dark...any day.
Spicy thighs from Popeye's are like crack

That bite into that little corner of a spicy popeyes thigh.. you get the fat juices, the spice of the chicken, the crunch of the skin.. a better bite does not exist

White meat is for chicken salad.
Dark meat for everything else.
Dark meat for everything else.

There is no debate. Dark meat is superior in flavor. Not even close.

While I agree on the dark meat almost every time, what about a chicken fried chicken sandwich or some good ole chicken fajitas?

Dark meat. White meat is as dry as popcorn farts.

Correct

I'm 43 and just learned a couple of years ago that wings are actually considered white meat. Shocked me.
If I'm cooking a chicken dish, it's thighs all day long.
If I'm getting Popeye's, it's wings.
If I'm grilling chicken, it's wings and legs.
If I'm smoking chicken, it's leg quarters.
The only time I'll eat dry arse chicken breast is if it's a spicy chicken sandwich from Popeye's or CFA being those guys know how to keep that meat nice and moist.
