What are some yummy but not touristy places to try in Lafayette, LA or the surrounding area?

Touristy places? Lafayette? Kidding...mostly.
Really depends on what kind of food your going for. Pizza, I'd go to Central Pizza. Really like Pop's po-boys and T-coons.
Don's seafood is also really good, but that is what you may consider "touristy."

Since you've used to word 'yummy' twice to describe the food you seek, I can only assume you are an 8 year old girl. Have your parents take you to Chick-fil-A. Remember to get some extra Chick-fil-A sauce.

Prejean's.

Prejeans was about the only one I can recall having that reputation for a while, we went a few months ago and the food was really solid. I guess because they'd regularly have buses of people parked out front. It's a pretty solid meal since Metcalf took over, hell maybe it was before too for all I know.

Last day for Shade tree before their summer vacation. With this heat, you'd have to get it to go

As many times as Don’s Seafood Hut gets recommended on here for out-of-towners, it’s chock full of regulars every day of the week.

By you saying yummy, I’m guessing you are a female. My wife likes Ruffinos, Zea’s, La Fondas and Mazen.

I love threads like these. Your OP made me irrationally angry with the use of yummy not once but twice. Then you get a bunch of legit suggestions and the only one youre going to respond to is the retard that says walkons for everything.
I hope your dinner sucks wherever you go
