Zea rotisserie and bar is a very underrated restaurant with a great wide-ranging menu.

They do a lot of things that are consistent and very good, especially the following:
Duck empanada
Thai ribs
Hummus
Honey Island Chicken sandwich
Corn grits

I'll never spend a dollar there. Plain jane menu with nothing amazing. The most boring of all the Taste Buds concepts. The great Semolina and Mizado died so people can pay $25 for half of a grocery store rotessiere chicken.

It is always an easy go to in a pinch. Feel like their prices have gotten crazy high for what they are though. The corn grits

If anything, their food is consistent.

The price doesn't bother me the blame menu does. Not one dish draws me in.

Semolinas was delicous. Mizado was delicous.

It used to be a favorite but they went through a rough patch where the food was terrible and the service was even worse. I quit going. Glad to see it's returned to form

I'll add in the sweet potato mash (when in season) and the twice crispy duck. We typically don't do chains a lot, but Zea's is one we don't mind frequenting. As a side note: we've found a copy cat corn grits recipe that we've been making annually for Christmas eve. We either double or triple the recipe depending on how many RSVP. Every year we have no leftovers

The only thing they have that I think is noteworthy are the corn grits. But I have the recipe and make it at home, so there's no reason for me to ever go there.

Just curious which ones?

They used to have a great menu but after covid they paired it down a ton and it’s very basic now. My favorite used to be the pesto crusted trout. Since they have removed it, I have a hard time finding something I want to eat.

The corn grits are amazing.
I haven't been there in many years but I still think about them.

The food isn't great, but it's solid enough. I don't go often, but they have a passable happy hour and, at least in Baton Rouge, have a deep enough covered patio area that I can hang out outside with my dog when it's raining if I'm so inclined, so it has that going for it.

This was my favorite as well

I used to frick up the Asian almond shrimp there, but haven’t been in probably 10 years. I don’t think they take reservations (or at least they didn’t used to), and I’m not waiting to sit anywhere. The last time we went there was an hour wait (probably 5 years ago), so we just went somewhere else.
