I think I skipped this game because of the Norman Reedus marketing and I still had a bad taste from Walking Dead and the name sounded dumb, but I finally did some research and it seems I might like it. Anyone play it? Love it? Hate it?

If a chill, very easy mode game with a story told entirely through metaphor seems interesting to you, then give it a shot.

The entire game--using that word loosely--is a fascinating trip through a mindfrick.

Here's a personal challenge...beat the game, then explain the story to someone irl.

I recommend giving it a shot just because it's so up its own arse, it's impressive. The uniqueness of it is a selling point. It's the Sharknado of video games.

Never seen Walking Dead and have no interest in it but this game is one of my favorites.

You have to be okay with making deliveries as the main mechanic, though. It's not an action game most of the time.

Most big budget games have boring, generic stories but this one is unique.

I very much enjoyed it, but it's a very polarizing game. There was actually a recently bumped old thread that had a few pages discussing it: LINK /

I need to start over with it. I wasn't far anyways but I fired it up last week and was doing ok with a delivery when I ended up in a combat situation and I had absolutely no clue what to do. I think I remembered I had a gun but I got thrown around by some ink squid while I was figuring it out and then it was game over.

I just started it a week ago. The landscapes and general vibe is so chill I love it. Getting mixed up with BTs and MULES can be downright freaky at times too. Overall I’m loving it

If I remember correctly, the only way to actually get a game over like this is if you get pulled under too close to a building so the game can't create the crater. Normally, you'd just find yourself in the underwater area.

You can tell you're in this situation because some of the BTs coming after you are gold instead of the usual black.

You guys are gonna have to bear with me on this one, but I think the only comparison you could make for this game to people unfamiliar with it is that the game style is basically like you are sailing a ship, except the ocean is land.

It has all the mechanics of an ocean and you load your ship and travel port to port

I've been playing Snowrunner and Farming Simulator. Boy am I ready to keep on delivering.

I think the building aspect is why I enjoy it more than snowrunner (I barely gave that game a chance tho).

Optimizing routes with ziplines is something you can endlessly tweak

When I started playing SnowRunner, one of my first thoughts was that it feels a lot like Death Stranding but less forgiving. It's great.

Just to give you some perspective, I’m a huge, huge fan of Hideo Kojima’s work. I’ve played every Metal Gear game ever made 3+ times, and once in story chronological order from start to finish and I think it’s the greatest video game story ever written. I also like to watch movies and play games with dark themes in general.

That being said, I didn’t like Death Stranding. I found it boring and extremely depressing to the point that it affected me in real life for a few days after I finished it. The weird BB shite, the flashbacks, the story being completely death-centric, etc. I just didn’t care for the game and wouldn’t buy the sequel.

That being said x2, it is interesting enough to warrant buying and playing IMO. Some people think it’s a masterpiece, I just don’t personally like feeling like I’m in a deep depression after finishing a game.

I responded to the “hur, dur it’s not a game” silliness at the top of page 2 of the thread I linked above.

It’s a unique game and I enjoyed my time with it but I don’t think I’d replay it. I might check out the sequel. I enjoyed the music and spooky interesting landscapes but in typical Kojima style the plot is bonkers
