Any tips to run an ethernet cable through attic?

So my wireless sucks. Need to run a cord from ps5 in living room through my attic to where my modem is in my guest room? Any tips for this? Or should I let a pro do it? Any idea how much this might cost. Seems like everything is overpriced.

Unless you know how to run a wall fish through a fire break and attach it to an outlet, id just get some of that sticky back wire hiding stuff and run it down a corner. Drill a 3/8 or however wide ethernet plug is straight up from ceiling into attic. Or do the same in a nearby closet if you can run it along the baseboard without it being hideous.
Only other option is assuming you dont need your.cable wire... pull off cover, remove cable wire from back of outlet, use strong tape to attach ethernet to cable and pull it up into attic. Still a chance the hole the cable goes through is smaller than the ethernet head.
Replace cable outlet with ethernet outnet.

I’m not good with a wall fish but i ran Ethernet wire with my existing cable tv wires. I tied some string to the end of the cable and pulled it up to my attic. Tied the end of the ethernet cable to it up there then pulled it back down. I did this for all of my bedrooms.

Just run a new AP closer to your PS5

Have you thought about adding a WiFi booster in near your PS5?

Fishing tape and a drill. Drill at least a 1in hole through the wall where you want the outlet in your living room and another hole through the wall in the guest room where the other outlet will be.
Go in the attic and see if you can get the access through walls for fishing tape. If you can't drill a hole through the 2x4 on top of the wall and fish the cable from the wall up to the attic and then repeat to go down the other wall. In an hour you should be done with everything from wiring and crimping connections to fishing.

It's not hard, you can buy cable and some crimpers at harbor freight for cheap. I was gonna do my house but my attic is a shitshow so i paid a local electrician. I think it was $80 per drop, and i did 6. Also one of them fell through the sheetrock in my garage, which completely confirmed my decision to not try myself.

Is that location for your modem required?

Get you one of these Home Depot - Jab Saw
Get you a few of these Home Depot - Single Gang Low Voltage Non Metallic Bracket
These : Amazon - single port keystone wall plate
And a few of these: Amazon - RJ45 punchdown keystones
Have fun and don't cut anything behind your sheetrock.

Look into a power line Ethernet adapter.
Used one for years, they work great. Almost zero latency.
TP Link PoE kit
