Avowed is looking like it's going to be another great game from Obsidian

Tons of videos and reviews out there today, all very positive. Gameplay looks really good. Can be played third-person or first-person.
Now I REALLY feel like I need to beat the Pillars of Eternity games.

I refuse to get excited about video games anymore.

I dunno. They're giving these folks like hours and hours of preview play time and there is a ton of video of gameplay out there. That tells me Obsidion/Xbox is very confident about this product.

This game is giving me Oblivion vibes, both good and not so good. I just added it to my Steam wishlist to keep an eye on it.
With that said, the audacity of their charging an extra $20 for five days of early access is staggering to me. This thing is going to be a buggy fricking mess for far longer than that. Anyone who spends $80 for that experience has more money than sense

I think they do this to gain additional revenue from Game Pass subscribers. I won't do it either.

They only do it because the market pays for it every damn time.

While I won't claim to have full knowledge of every release, this one is the worst I've seen. It's usually $10 and bundled with a decent amount of deluxe content. This is $20 and comes with some digital art. That's fricking brutal. I'll be curious to see if this is a tipping point.

I'm in the mood for a rich fantasy RPG, but my god I hate the art style they went with here. We need to move on from the super saturated and hyper colorful grading that AAA games love to implement now. EVERYTHING has it. frick Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy for this
Also have very little confidence in Obsidian after Outer Worlds. Such a disappointing and forgettable experience
Yes, this is what I'd really like to do. Obsidian in their prime and in their element. Not my kind of game but it's so highly regarded that I have to try. Already own them too

I couldn’t figure out what my issue was with the graphics, but that’s definitely part of it. Faces are also too shiny.
Not a dealbreaker, but hopefully there is some set piece variation outside of the first two hours.

Man I loved that game. Can't remember if I got every achievement, but I came close.

I’m interested in it. To the point I might actually get pc gamepass to play it. Only thing is I’m hearing the game is actually very short. I don’t know if that’s true and even if it is it doesn’t make it a bad thing. In fact most games are far too long. Just needs to be good. I’ll be keeping my eye on it.

I don't necessarily mind a relatively short game if it's densely packed, but $60 for a "very short" game might be a bit much for me. We'll see as we get closer to release.

It was disappointing with regards to length and kinda combat but it wasn't bad.
There was a good game there it just didn't blossom and was shortlived. With more money and development time I have faith.

They gave those folks hours of time to play Dragon Age Rainbow Guard and Concord too and we all saw what happened there.

Obsidian didn't make either of those games and has a very good track record. Go watch the playthrough videos for yourself. It looks pretty dang fun.
