Ok, I figure everyone here already knows Dragon Age Inquisition was free last week on Epic Games.

I was finally able to get it loaded and running on a Steam Deck, after much hassle. I tried Heroic Launcher, that was a no-go. I was able to do it with Lutris. Since reddit appears to be loaded with people saying they can't get it installed or running, here's what I did:

1 Switch to Desktop Mode,
2 install Lutris
3 in Lutris, download the Epic launcher, and the EA launcher
4 In Lutris, run and log into both launchers
5 in Epic launcher, you click the install link. That kicks you to EA.
6 In EA, you download the game. That took awhile. Even though I hooked my Deck to an ethernet cable, it still took awhile.
7 Launch the game, it will take awhile. When you run it, do NOT change to controller, keep it on keyboard/mouse *in-game settings*
8 once you have started and set up, save and exit the game.
9 Still in desktop mode, go to your Steam library and add Lutris if you haven't already
10 go back to Gaming Mode,
11 find Lutris in your Steam library, at this point click the Steam button and select my controllers- I just chose to go with keyboard/mouse layout.
12 run Lutris, run Epic inside it, go to library and run Dragon Age Inquistion.
After the first time you run it, it will load and run fine.

Do NOT change to the controller option in-game, I did that and it made the game unplayable. I had to go enter some configuration settings manually in desktop to correct that. The Steam Deck default controller layout for keyboard/mouse are ok, but I'd like to know the best assignments for things to make it more enjoyable.

It's been awhile (a LONG time) since I've gamed much at all, so this is just getting back into it for me. I can't give anyone tips on gameplay, because I'm basically a noob again, getting my arse kicked. But I've played games since the Atari came out, and I've noticed for about a decade that games are now as good story-wise as most movies, so I figured I would try to get back into it.
