For everyone who has played, did you use the Felix Felicis Potion at all in your playthrough?

It's one of the pre-order bonuses on Playstation and you can still get the bonus if you buy the game before the PS4 version comes out.

Just curious if the potion is useful throughout the game.

PC player, haven't even seen this potion mentioned (but then again I don't use potions much, just good old wand-waving).

I can't imagine needing anything other than the health potion. The rest feel like after thoughts.

I don’t remember if anyone is playing on PS4. I can tell you that, playing on PC without it, I didn’t miss it.

The game just isn’t hard enough to need them. It badly needs a “very hard” setting to push people into planning combat out a bit more.

yeah i mean the game is fairly easy as far action adventure video games go and the test your ability to react mechanic is one they spring so deep from the well often.

I dont think taking the game as is and just making it harder like via slider is a solution, at least not to me or anyone I know. The game needs alternate modes once you prove that you have a mastery of the original one. Less resources or "scarce" mode, mixing up certain items, conversations, and encounters every playthrough new that is started would be nice if im honest; boss rush mode, levels that are as is but have a a high level like yourself player spawned in a type of predator enemy, the magic angle you could take this to is legit limitless

I think that's a separate issue that's likewise needed for long term replay depth.

But even for a first playthrough, combat at the highest difficulty is too easy. I'd admittedly reasonably good at games, but I'm not great, and this was my first playthrough. I shouldn't have been able easily beat the game on my first playthrough on the hardest difficulty without using a single plant or potion (outside of mandatory quest uses).

I struggled only to the point I realized how broken and abusable protega is. It needs a cool down (not my preferred choice) or a set damage amount based on difficulty it can take before being unusable except to immediately stupidly and not absorb damage.

Outside of this or sliders movements to difficulty what’s your suggestions for the game as is?

The hardest fight in the whole game is the deathly hallows sequence with the trolls and many wizards solely because of 2 things

Limited to 4 spells you may or may be all confident with and shite coming in so many detections limited to healing it can be challenging until you get it down and the layout

I hate bullet sponges, so my suggestion for “harder” is always a combination of more enemies, more aggressive enemies, and better enemy tactics. Counterintuitively, I almost never used protego on hard. Too many unblockable casts. Easier to just dodge everything. But if you increased the amount of fire coming at me to the point that I can’t comfortably just dodge everything, it would force me to use plants to distract some of the field and use potions to give me an edge.

Another option would be story based: there needs to be some in world penalty for using unforgivable curses. They are simply too powerful to be allowed regular use without drawback.

I definitely agree with the last bit. You can literally just curse everyone and cast adavra and watch them all burn sometimes directly in front of your professors. I feel like sebastian should be sentenced not a choice you make, but outside of that i feel it could possibly be involved to lock you away from learning maybe some later game stuff from certain teachers like transfiguration or using it in the poltergeist quest in front of the officer amongst the above said professors should lock you into a certain if not bad then middle of the road ending.

I never once used plants, i did use the defensive and offensive potions at times in the trials especially the mirror one to just murder enemies obliviously fast. But, if you have a good spell rotation going, i,e disarm axe foes or the big dudes in gauntlets for more damage, glacial followed by strongest attack etc theyre never one needed outside of convenience to destroy anything that dare enter your path

Late access here, as I just got around to starting it.

Really interesting & well made. Did have an issue where it cut out on me once, but restarted and was right back to where I was. No worries.

Proper use of some extra Microsoft points I had lying around too.
