How to play 2 player on mortal kombat on Nintendo switch?

My son wants to play against me on mortal kombat on his Nintendo switch. I tried everything and the only option it gives me is against computer. I thought we each can have a part of the controller where you turn it sideways. If anybody can help me out I would appreciate it.
