iRacing v. Gran Turismo v. Forza

Hello, everyone. I am looking to get into online racing. What is the general consensus of iRacing v. Gran Turismo v. Forza Motorsport? iRacing is very attractive to me because it has the world's most famous tracks. However, Gran Turismo has much cheaper barriers to entry (as well as some famous tracks too). I don't know much about Forza.

Gt7 + psvr 2 + wheel/pedal set up

Just from a barrier to entry perspective if I'm mostly interested in the cars on something like Gran Turismo, I probably stick with that.
If you want to try a bunch of different series, iRacing is a TON of fun and you can really deep dive into that world if you want to.
I liked Forza more than GT in my experience, but I have a playstation now so I'll be getting GT. Both are great games.

Thanks for the response.

I am not a gamer at all, but I have always enjoyed racing video games (when I have played them) and am a big racing junkie. I just want to drive the cars on tracks I know and/or like. I'm interested in all major US racing series (F1, IndyCar, NASCAR) and the ability to drive on tracks I see on TV would be really cool, regardless of the cars I can choose from.
What would a decent iRacing setup look like? That game looks incredibly detailed and immersive. I think I can get a good GT7 setup for about $1,500 (including buying a Playstation).

I had a lot of fun with a $400 Logitech setup including a frame mount from Amazon, but I had a pretty nice PC already because of my job (My industry uses a lot of software that requires a decent graphics card anyway, so gaming PCs are perfect).
Getting something with force feedback really adds to the immersion though. But if you're going to throw that kind of coin at it, I'd be on the lookout for sales and just watch a few youtube videos on what you're getting in a wheel at different price points.
If you're really interested in the tracks, go iRacing IMO. You'll find tracks in other series that you love. Aussie Supercars on iRacing is a ton of fun, and there are some awesome tracks. Quarter Midgets on the dirt indoor Chili Bowl track are incredibly fun
but driving on dirt is a different skillset/animal.

GT if you already have a PS5
Forza if you already have an X or decent PC
iRacing if you have the money for it..
all of the above will still require +/- $400 wheels and pedals
My son uses his Quest every now and then for a headset on Forza and its pretty nice..The quality on a TV is great too, but if you are looking for realisim, etc, iRacing is probably your want

Can someone help me put together a $1,000 turnkey Gran Turismo setup? I just don’t think I have the free time to devote to iRacing and I like the arcade aspect of GT7.

are you including the $500 PS5 ?

Yes.
I don’t have to have a dedicated cockpit, but I would at least like a wheel stand.

i mean, i played GT with controller and the wheel, and while the wheel/pedal set up was great it was not absolutely required

Forza has turned to dogshit with the implementation of Car experience walls. No longer can you start a race with a suped up car. you have to earn car points to unlock upgrades. By the time you get the good upgrades the event is over and you no longer need the car. Really lame

That’ll get you the ps5 and either or the psvr2/a pedal and wheel combo.
I can’t stress enough how much the psvr2 adds to the experience. I’d honestly go with the psvr2 over the wheel and pedals first
