Is the new dual sense edge ps5 controller worth 200 dollars?

What tangible changes or benefits does it provide over my 2 launch controllers?

No controller is worth that. I got it for $160 thanks to a sony code and enjoy it though

I am sure it is better but im looking for specifics ill likely get one when my VA disability comes in on the 1st but just wanna hear opinions on what details make it superior than the standard.

Do you want to pay $200 for 2 extra buttons on the back, the ability to easily replace analog stick modules, the ability to save up to 4 custom profiles, and are you comfortable with only 6 hours battery life max?
If yes, buy the controller.
If no, don't buy the controller.

What is the purpose of the two new buttons? will devs be using them to map in upcoming games or just simply for you to rebind existing keys

Exactly this. Most people who use controllers with paddles/back buttons (e.g., DualSense Edge, Xbox Elite, etc.) use them in FPS games to remap things like crouch, jump, etc.
Maybe Carson uses them for Souls games but I think that's pretty rare.

I mean i have beaten every souls/sekiro/bourne/elden game just fine without them and consider myself very very good at least at BB and sekiro so that seems like it would be unnecessary and since I dont play FPS this appears like a marketing gimmick to the large majority of players and i should pass.

I was looking at ways of gifting the new ff game to sicboy on amazon and saw the controller on my recommended for 200 yup
