It’s going to take a lot of self control to wait until some QOL mods are released (unless they do some significant system overhaul), but my body is willing.

I completely get it. My last playthrough (according to Steam) was October 2020, so while it's been a few years, it wasn't been that long for me.

It's wild to me that they would just shadow drop this unless it's just like a slightly enhanced version that plays more nicely with modern hardware.

I've heard the Oblivion remake rumors for the past month or so. Meanwhile, there hasn't been one screenshot, gameplay video, email or anything else substantial to actually support it. No one from Bethesda or Xbox/Microsoft has even acknowledged it.
I would love to be wrong but this whole thing reeks of a hoax or at best it's a long way off.

I just started AC Valhalla a few days ago. If an Oblivion remake drops, Valhalla may get shelved for awhile lol

The rumor of it dropping way earlier than the July date has been out there for weeks. This is a new update from those same sources, that are apparently very reliable.

Yes and no. The freedom and the world are unparallled. With that said, most of the quests in the game suuuuck. Nearly all of the guild questlines are just straight fetch quests. And really, really basic fetch quests at that. For all of Oblivion's flaws, it beats the absolute brakes off of Morrowind when it comes to quests.

Oblivion's Assassin Guild Quests > Every other set of guild quests in every Elder Scrolls game.
Creative, multiple ways to carry out hits - many more options than Skyrim.
