ALSO.........
Good on you, Nintendo. Sitting on this cash cow, it was just insane to leave that much money on the table for something that can't be all that involved to produce. Plus, LOTS of people really want these.

Speaking with the Financial Times about the Super NES Classic Edition, Reggie confirmed that Nintendo has dramatically increased production for the Super NES Classic Edition and, as such, there shouldn’t be too many problems getting a unit at launch. He also added that customers shouldn’t pay more than $80 for the console on any auction site.
“I would strongly urge you not to over-bid on an SNES Classic on any of the auction sites . . . You shouldn’t [have to] pay more than $79.99"
The Super NES Classic Edition launches in just a few days in all regions. The console will come with some of the best games ever released for the 16-bit console, such as Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy III, and many others. Also included is the never released before Star Fox 2.

Next summer, Nintendo will also bring back the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition system with new shipments.

Give me Switch VC console already. With the metroid game coming out friday it really got me wanting to play the prime trilogy.
I'd buy that shite on VC (among many others) in a heartbeat. Instead I've downloaded it on my surface pro, hooked it up to the big screen and started a game with my dualshock4 last night.
Nintendo is throwing away money not having the VC, and it looks like they'd rather put these out instead.

VC is on the backburner for Nintendo sadly. They would rather sell these for the mindshare.

This. The Classics annoy the heck out of me because that's all this is about.

Because these things are a fad. How long did that super sweet Atari retro thing last? Now it's bargain bin at Bed Bath and Beyond. That's the eventuality of this. Retro is cool as a thing for a short while, and they'll make a pile of money from people who don't know how to install an emulator or buy a RetroPi off of ebay, all the while keeping VC titles away from their main gaming device so that, instead of investing in retro nostalghia at mass on buying yet another gaming device, I could purchase the games I know I want to play, experience and beat.
People buy these types of devices for no other reason than to member the nostalgia, not to actually play and experience the game. (See the Secret of Mana news. I actually want to play and beat that again, NOT just experience the nostalgia of having it and looking at the title screen).
How many people who have an NES classic have routinely gone through and beaten every game again? How much play time does it actually get?

I agree that I probably wouldn't touch much on the NES. Nostalgia is fine but I can't fathom any of them being that fun now. The SNES offerings..............I'm down, for sure. If only for Mana, Earthbound, and Super Metroid. I'd even play Super Mario World again.

I'd maybe play River City Ransom, Final Fantasy, and a few others again, but that's it.
(Bayou Billy? Yeah that's not coming on a Classic device anytime soon.)

You might be, but 90% of buyers will treat it like the NES. Honestly, I work with some nerds (software) who are into this and I asked them that exact question. They just "want" it, they don't actually want to play it. It fits two population, nerds who have game rooms and own every game console ever, and keep them forever, and hipster/"trendy folks" who love the retro aesthetic. Neither wants to actually play the dang thing.
All the while, I'd love to play Secret of Mana on the Switch. At least the original, if not the Collection (JP only), if not the 3D remake.
I'd buy 5-8 of the SNES classic games as VC, but I absolutely refuse to buy another damn device. F Nintendo for dropping any VC strategy they had for the Switch.
I already know their play: Focus on Releasing Classics for VC access, then release 2-3 select titles that you only get while you pay their online subscription for the Switch. That's all the VC we'll get. And to me, that's going to be their single worst decision.

I have periods where I'll play the classic every night for a week, then not play it for a few weeks. I mostly stick to the same games smbros3, gradius, megaman2, and punch out.
I'm more excited about the snes. I had a nes as a child, but never had a snes. So many of the games I never played, or only played on friends' consoles occasionally.

I know this isn't quite on topic, but don't know if I should start a thread on it or not.
Anyways, is there a market for NES games? I have 15 of them. Looked them up online about a week ago and most range from $20-$30. A few from $5-$10, all based just on one site I looked at. I've kept them in my house forever, have no clue why.
Anyways, just curious bc I have no use for them and figured maybe someone would.

So who's picking up one of these suckers tomorrow? I'm going to try but reasonably. If the other nerds outnerd me and are waiting in line for hours at all locations then oh frigging well I guess. Hoping I can slide into wal mart and nab one though.

I was lucky enough to get one on pre-order. My friend let me know, and I managed to get the second to last one. Entire time I was hoping power wouldn't go out in the store.
