Thinking about getting a psp go and modding it.

the psp has a ton of cool stuff you can do to it once its jailbroken. I can upload a ton of ps1 games and psp games on there along with things like snes and gameboy emulators. Its cheap and very easy to jailbreak so instead of getting a actual emulation device just thinking about this.

I think it looks cool, and since I won't be using the UMD drive and just uploading games directly to the hardrive, go is the best for me. I think the white psp go is really nice. Just gonna dump a ton of psp games and ps1 since it emulates it very well.

Or you can get a better, faster device, for 1/2 the price.
Do you have baby hands or something, have you ever even held a psp go? The thumb stick is trash, you will not enjoy playing games on it.
At least get a vita, bare minimum.

I had a psp growing up and I loved it. Lost it in the big flood in 2016 (part of why I sorta want to get one). Would get a vita but idk I just like the design of the go personally.

I would suggest getting one of the LCD SteamDecks.
With the OLED model release the prices have dropped on the LCD and used models as people trade up and it is an emulation beast with better controls and you can still run Steam games. Just a suggestion, check them out, lots of vids on YT.

The ergonomics on the Go kinda suck though.
You should also look at a Vita if you're interested in playing lots of PS1 games since it has 2 sticks and 4 shoulder buttons. Emulation isn't as good as on PSP since it doesn't have POPS but still really good.

I might for Christmas ask my dad if he'd pay for half of the 512 ssd oled steam deck and I'll pay for the other half. And then if I have any other money and I can save for the summer sale and just emulate and rely on my current steam library.

PSP emulation isn't very good, i feel like you are getting sucked into a nostalgia wormhole.
If you want a psp go, buy one. But it's crap for emulation and completely outdated by modern standards. There's just no way i can look at an iphone screen, and then go back to a psp. The pixels are the size of entire letters on a modern phone.

The OLED SteamDeck seems to be a pretty strong upgrade, I was just suggesting the LCD model to keep down costs.
I really like my SteamDeck but if you can get the funds also consider one of the Windows handhelds like the Legion Go or Ally if you have a GamePass subscription. I wish The SteamDeck could take advantage of it other than streaming.
All of them will be great at emmulation.

No gamepass, used to but I prefer usually owning my games (I like physical games) but even like I'd prefer to buy and OWN a game. I had a few games that I loved to play that got taken off gamepass, and I hardly use my xbox anymore anyway unless its to play elden ring.

I have a vita and have been wanting to mod it strictly to play NCAA Football…and for some reason I can’t find any proof it’s playable. I’ve seen the psp version on vita, allegedly. I’d be ok with that but would rather a better version of the game.
