Seeing a lot of press for this from Microsoft, is it possible that this becomes a part of PC Game Pass at some point?

Might resub for a month only to find out again that they basically employ no GM's and it's basically automated shite.

It's pretty amazing that the game has been going strong for 20 years. It's truly in a class of its own.

How do people with any semblance of a normal life have time to sink into a game like this?

No clue. I gave it up in The Great Relationship Summit of 2010.

It's not nearly as bad as say FFXI old school, or other old school mmorpgs.

I guess this explains why in my late 30s I pretty much just stick with games I can easily hop on and off of, like online FPS. Of course, I love single player story driven games, but I err on the side of shorter ones that I can actually beat (Detroit Become Human comes to mind that I just beat after putting it down for a couple years).
Did buy 3 AC games recently... and I will likely never finish them all.
With these, I likely do not need to ever buy another game. I'll just never have the time and only be contributing to backlog.
Still need to beat Ghost of Tsushima too, about 22 hours in and close to storming Castle Shimura.
Damn that was a tangent ... sorry.

I played when the game first came out and had a few level 60s. When raiding became the focus, I couldn't keep up.
I just retired, and that's the only reason I would even allow myself to play the game. It is too much of a treadmill for people who work full time jobs and have families.

So a re-release of the same game for a third time. Impressive

Had a real addiction to this game about 15 years ago

I never played past classic. I gave the reboot a try back in 2019, but then it started progressing beyond classic and I quit again. I don't like doing the same raid over and over every week, just so you can gear check into whatever new content is coming out. It's not an end game, which is to say WoW lacks one.
The GOAT was DAOC. I wish they would make a cross between WoW PVE and DAOC end game(PVP).

They don't

You can play WoW really casually.. but if you are wanting to raid seriously and not be stuck with shitters, you will have to dedicate an absurd amount of your free time to the game.... ask me how I know

It’s a lifestyle for a certain stage of life, imo. Teens through the start of marriage, perhaps. You can do everything but progression raiding without too much commitment, which is part of why I think Vanilla is so popular over TBC and Wrath. It’s got the most content geared/scaled for casual play (though Wrath is probably second with the easy dungeons and lack of attunements). You shouldn’t need to plan or grind that much until BWL or AQ40 progression.

Perhaps you would be interested in this DAOC freeshard. I still play it.

Man, what WAR could have been. Similar PvP/RvR with the WHF IP.

Are there any mmorpg's more recent or there? Seemed like the genre died.

I loved me some Shadowbane. The player created towns were awesome

World of Warcraft (retail)? Consensus is that it sucks for the general population. Hardcore end-game raiders like it.

Thanks, I think I'll give it another go.
I tried to play it about 5 or 6 years ago and I just hated the character control so much. If they would just update that I think the game could do so much better. It's awkward compared to WoW and that was even a big part of what lead me to go from DAOC to WoW back in the day.
So I don't have high expectations, but I'm going to give it a go. Is it still the same grind to level, and what's the rules as far as using a buff bot?
