After a long absence from the game I'm back and am seeking a short-term solution off the tee. Woods are my biggest problem at present (due to some consistent swing issues I am actively working on). This would be a (potentially) short- term club so don't want to drop major money. Looking at the cheapo PXG or something used on eBay. Thoughts on the club in general and specific recs are appreciated.

ETA - I struggle with the few hybrids I've used as well. More consistent with a driving iron but wondering if my dispersion with a 7 wood would be tighter than the driving iron.

If you are having trouble with Woods and hybrids, a 7-wood is still a wood. Stick with a driving Irons if it's working for you.

I had a 7w about 15 years ago. I loved that club until it cracked.

I carry a Callaway Epic Speed 7 wood (21°) to go along with my Epic Speed 4 wood (16.5°). The 7 wood is a fantastic club and perfect for the 220-230 yard range for me.

Problem is that doesn't work all the time either.... it abandoned me on the back nine Sunday. I think I made a breakthrough with my 3 wood at the range Monday. I adjusted my address of the ball at what I would call "uncomfortable to me" range. Things tightened up considerably but I want to see if I can repeat that a bit before labeling it a success.

I've had to do that with my irons lately. Each shot I hit just reminds me that it's working.

Funny enough, I'm just going back to my old swing.

I'm getting fitted for woods/utility/driving irons next Thursday. I am going to ask about a 7 wood. Sounds like the perfect utility club and I'm guessing it's always going to be more forgiving than a driving iron. Aren't 1/2 irons the hardest clubs to hit in the bag?

For most people, yes. However, some people can smoke those things, and can't hit a fairway wood.

This is what I'm trying to sort out as well.... problem is you aren't going to be able to walk in to most places and find one to demo. The cost to answer this question looks to be about three bills.

I tried to. I have a 4 hybrid that I struggle with sometimes and wanted to replace it with a SIM2 7 wood with a stiff Ventus Blue 6. They only offered it stock with a regular flex.

I ordered it in August 2021, got a ship date in February 2022, then they stopped carrying it all together.

I carry a 24 degree TM M2 7 wood.

I like it.

I’m not sure you need to tee off with it routinely unless you are just LONG AF.

Try a high loft 3 wood at 16.5 degrees loft.

Also drivers are so easy to hit now.
Consider taking a driver specific lesson.

Definitely not a problem here.

That sucks. You plan on buying a used one and ordering the shaft separately? I see at least one listed on eBay.
