Anyone ever done the Old Waverly/Mossy Oak stay and play?

We have a group of 8 booked for the first weekend in April. Going from Thursday to Sunday and we are planning to play 3 rounds.
We will possibly play a round a Dancing Rabbit on the way up as well.
Any advice or reviews on these courses and staying out there?

Done all 3 on a similar trip. OW was my favorite, MO a close 2nd. It’s a good, low key trip. Casino is very uninspiring at DR but enjoyed the 2 courses there.

Our group went there twice. All the courses are very nice. Caddies at MO were great to have. We stayed in condos at OW. Go have dinner at Anthony’s Good Food Market. The clubhouse at Old Waverly is terrific. We’re thinking about going back there for our annual trip next year.

both courses are awesome. I prefer Mossy Oak over Old Waverly.
Use their reservation staff to set everything up for you. Dinner at Old Waverly clubhouse, transportation to and from Anthony's one night. See about grills at the cottages if staying at Mossy Oak

Yes. Every year since 2015 when lsu plays at Ms St we go and stay at OW and play there and MO. It’s a great time. Expensive but great. Go visit The Pony.

It’s a blast! We did Thursday-Sunday trip. Played 9 at waverly when we arrived on Thursday afternoon. Then 36 a day friday and saturday. A great trip with great accommodations and two great courses!

Can’t you just play for $60? Seems like it was $60 a round of $50 with your NCF wrist band when I played in July. I played the Oaks course though. Azalea wasn’t open that day.

I’ve played DR at least 6 times and Azalea is NEVER open. WTH?

Done it 3 years in a row. Stayed at Waverly every time. It’s great and very reasonably priced. We play 18Thursday, 36 Friday and 36 Saturday. Going between both courses.
Mossy is very hard to compare to anything. I love it, personally but it’s hard especially if the winds blowing and it doesn’t take much.
Waverly is just a great old country club course. Great layout. Great condition.
The trip is 100% worth it. We’re staying in mossy oak cabins this year for the first time.
To answer the question, stay at waverly or mossy oak, if there’s availability.
There’s hotels in the town of West Point 10 minutes from the courses

I'm interested in a trip like this, are rates better any specific time of year?

No idea. You would think it’s a no brainer to have Azalea open during Neshoba County Fair. Lots of people there for a week +. It’s basically a summer Christmas for the town.

Yes, they have different rates for different times of the year
Mossy Oak Rates
Waverly probably has the same info on their website as well
If you are a hunter you can also book a clay shooting or hunt through prairie wildlife in town which is awesome. Good if you want to break up the golf one day and do something different

We have a Garden Court Villa already booked at Waverly, so we are definitely staying on site. We may book dinner for one night, but I think the plan right now is to just cook something for dinner at the condo for the nights. We aren't really looking to go to night clubs or bars or anything, so price wise this trip is hard to pass up. We didn't need some activity filled surrounding area. The plan is to just play a shite ton of golf over the 3 day period. I'm really looking forward to it.

Then a trip to waverly/mossy oak will be perfect for you. I would say to hit up Anthony’s one night but nothing wrong with a pure buddy’s golf trip and hanging out on the patio drinking, cigars and shooting the shite. The older I get (I’m 29) that’s what I prefer opposed to going out to some loud bar, paying for drinks, and fighting the crowd

You would only be able to afford appetizers after we play anyways.

Football weekends are steep.
OW was $215 and MO was $195 per round.
