Pros and cons for a northshore membership.

Also, anyone heard rumblings about changes coming to old Covington CC?

dont know anything about tchefuncte, but i joined BC last year.

if you're under 40, your rates are a little lower, but i don't them exactly. if you're over 40 you can come in 2 ways:
$1000 initial fee\$480'ish a month for golf\tennis\club (car rental $25\round) *this goes down to the $350'ish a month rate after you're a member for 5 years i believe

$5000 initial fee\$350'ish a month for golf\tennis\club (cart rental $25\round)

*you can pay $1400\year trail fee if you have your own registered golf cart (can't have mud tires or be eccentric) which comes out to about 56 rounds a year.

The huge pro is BC has 2 courses.

You can argue the 1 at Tchefuncte is better than either but that’s debatable.

Feel like there’s always rumblings about Covington and they don’t do shite ever.

Played the oak at BC this weekend and the course is in really solid shape considering the time of year. Greens were rolling well.

Personally I’d say BC the way to go. But that’s just me.

I'm about to join BC, apparently they had a recent surge due to increased fees at Tchefuncta, also has 36 holes instead of 18. Practice facility is better at Tchefuncta though. Tchefuncta is a good bit pricier i believe as well.

I heard the owners of the Lakehouse, Maison Lafitte and a few other things (also have that big house with the military truck out front in CCC) purchased the clubhouse at CCC. I believe when the Blossman's purchased CCC, they signed a 10 year deal to keep it a course, that will be running out soon and it will become houses.

Thats all i got

It was purchased by Danny Sinclair. They plan on making the club house/pool area into a water front dining area. Not sure the plan for the course.

That was the original plan, but the city of Covington put a stop to that. It’s only zoned for a golf course and a few other things like a school and funeral home. Something odd like that. The city would not allow it to be zoned for residential building.

It will stay a golf course, but the greens are in such bad shape, it’s really not worth it.

Its where I learned to play golf, such a shame whats happened to it. Have been talking to some folks to put together a group to buy it, hopefully can get something going. Front nine is such a good layout, could improve the back just by adding some undulation to the greens for a start.

Have some info somewhere to confirm what you are saying? Its not in Covington city limits, its in that dead area, covington address, mandeville schools etc...

Nothing in writing, but I’ve been a “member” out there for 10 years and it’s been common knowledge out there for the past 3-4 years.

If you’re looking to put some money together to buy, you’d better get some partners with deep pockets. Word is blossman wants $7 million for that place. Sounds crazy, but the guy who bought the clubhouse/pool/parking lot wanted to buy everything and that was the type of money being thrown around.

You’re right, it’s a great layout. They just don’t put any money into it. The greens needed to be replaced 10 years ago.

Yeah I heard they turned down an offer of $10M for the back nine...

Not really worth investing in now that the riverfront portion is gone. Could build new clubhouse by 8 tee box though. Think there is a house now where the old clubhouse was before it burned down.

I’m curious on what ever happened to the guy who was supposed to have purchased Abita. Seems like nothing happened.

yeah thought it was supposed to be back open by spring, not sure they have even done any work out there...

for me, locally, its worth it to just drive to Carter for now. Even Pinewood is not that bad for the price, especially when you compare to Covington.

Never tried Pinewood. Seems like the cheapest option around. I love going to Carter, but right now I can only get away on weekends....and the pace at Carter is pretty bad.

Ok, I belong to TCC but I live in the neighborhood so it is very convenient. TCC is a perhaps $100 per month more expensive than BC but all other cart fees and initiation are the same. IMO, the 2 courses at BC are a stroke or 2 harder than at TCC and the greens are comparable. There are no t times at TCC as the membership is much smaller . TCC is a much better practice facility than BC. Good range with white Titleist and Srixon balls plus there is a par 3 and a par four to practice on which are separate from the main course. In addition, BC is closed on Mon but TCC allows you to play after 2 pm on Mondays. Both are very nice and you can’t go wrong with either one.

Can confirm. It’s either 6 or 7 the green literally has no grass on it. Par 3. Hit the green and you’re putting through sand

And they have the nerve to change 55 bucks for it.
