Best club fitter - Shreveport (Updated with selections)

Would love to go see John Joy in Broussard, but can’t get down there.
Does anyone have any experience with fittings in Shreveport? I know Watts does it as that’s where I went last time. Just wondering if there are any others out there I need to look at. I’m getting new fairway woods, irons, and wedges.

Oh wow thanks. Totally forgot about them

Good lawd. They charge $250 for a 1 hour fitting and no openings until Friday, 8/14.

Yeah, they’re expensive. Shaun Webb is very good though.

That’s who I’m seeing. Given I’m probably about to drop $2,500 retooling the set, 10% for fitting is worth it.
Thanks for the recommendation!

Report back and let us know how it went and what you ended up buying

You can get fitted by the assistant pro at 265 for half the price of Webb. Can’t go wrong with either.

I recently got fitted there, but I used Chase Leone who is the assistant pro out there. Great guy and very, very good at his job. He's only $90/hr if you want to go cheaper. That being said, if you purchase the clubs through them they will refund you for the fitting fee.

That was an amazing experience. He had the trackman system and we went through every club in the bag.
Driver: staying the same. M2, stiff shaft I bought off the rack. I was carrying 260 with 102.2 mph swing speed and 2,200 rpm spin and ball speed of 155.2 average. We tried the Sim, Ping, Mavrik, and Titliest drivers. Nothing could beat what I had so he recommended I stay put.
Fairway woods:
Sim 5 wood, Fujikira Pro 2.0 stiff shaft. Was carrying it 235 on a string.
Mavrik 3 hybrid with a Fujikira Pro 2.0 6 stiff shaft, 1/2 inch long.
Irons:
Callaway Apex 19 4 iron thru gap wedge, 1/2 inch long, 3 degrees upright. My 7 iron (Titleist 690 CB) was carrying 165 with a 91.4 swing speed. The Apex was hitting the ball 8 feet higher at the apex and was carrying 180 on average.
Wedges:
Callaway Jaws 54 and 58 degree, 10 degree bounce and S grind.
They are still working up the order and will call me with a price. My guess is somewhere around $3,000 with the different shafts options we chose, but I’m fricking pumped. I saved for 5 years for this and finally got to build my dream bag. Spending the $250 for the fitting was 100% worth it.

I think your old 7 iron is about the same loft as your current 8...that’s the extra distance.
Titleist 7 = 35 deg
Callaway 8 = 34.5 deg
Titleist 7 = 35 deg
Callaway 8 = 34.5 deg

It is. What was different was the lie angle and shaft better fits my swing so the contact is more consistently on the center of the club face. The ball also is launching higher which is a good thing for me as I traditionally hit a medium/low trajectory.

I bet that was incredible, hell yea

How much more accurate are you with the fitting?

This is how I feel currently about my order. Still waiting though. Congrats!

Once we got the irons dialed in I hit 10 full swings in a row with about a 3 yard fade and landed within 7 yards of each other. I almost needed a pillow to hide the boner.

Man that’s awesome!
Was this your first time working with Shaun? He’s a good guy and extremely knowledgeable.
I try to get a lesson or two with him per year and once a month I’ll rent a Trackman bay for an hour.

You can’t ask for more than that. Getting increased height and carry on a lower lofted club should justify the entire purchase, IMO.

It was my first time with him. He was awesome. We looked at my swing on the trackman and saw my hands were coming through higher at impact than they are at address so he fit the clubs for that swing. We scheduled a couple lessons over the coming months where we’re going to address that along with a couple of other little things he saw. He said it wouldn’t be a problem to bend the clubs more flat once we get the hands lower at impact.
As an aside, we really couldn’t decide on a hybrid there, so he sent me over to Watts to see if they had anything I could hit and possibly buy from them. When I went to Watts the guy couldn’t have been less interested in helping me and was actively trying to talk me out of my driver decision. He was a total know it all dick. I’ll never spend another dollar in that store. I genuinely walked in with the intention of spending $3-400 on a club, but was treated like shite.
