Best Golf Shoes- Walking and Waterproof
Posted on 2/16/20 at 6:57 pm

I've got shoes I like to walk in, I've got shoes that are waterproof and I have shoes that I like the look of, but I'm not walking in.
I need a solid pair of golf shoes that are light enough to walk in, but aren't the mesh/tennis shoe material. Whatcha recommend?

This is such a subjective question. I’ve got a pair of New Balance spikeless that I think are wonderful.
But my honest answer is Ecco Bioms. I caught a pair randomly at academy in Denham back in like 2009 when academy tried to carry premium brands. They were on clearance for $79. Last year I finally retired them as the spikeless tread had finally worn to the point where it was useless.
I played Chambers Bay in 2015 and walked it in those shoes. For a Louisiana boy I was most definitely not accustomed to those types of elevation changes. Not once did my feet ever hurt.

I’ve owned various pairs of footjoys and only developed blisters only after walking. No big deal.
I did pick up a pair of adidas spikeless that are also waterproof- pretty damn amazing shoes

Subjective for sure - I have not been happy with my biom hybrids - they are not waterproof, period. Though I do like them for walking on dry afternoons. Also I don’t have a problem with stinky shoes but those things stink to high heaven.
For me, the FJ ProSLs get the nod here for waterproof comfort.
ETA - I walk ~80 rounds/yr.

FJ ProSLs
I tried these and hated them. They killed my feet. I am apparently the only one who has this review of these shoes. I have some Flex right now and like them better.

I have these shoes and I absolutely love them. That's why it's always good to go try them on and walk in them in the store for awhile. What's good for someone else may be awful for another person

Sketchers
Not sure why no love for Sketchers.
One of the most comfortable shoes on the market. Always in the top 5 in golf shoe reviews. Have been very plain styling in the past, but they are upping their game with the Mojo, Valor, and Rover. I have a pair of Mojo's and just received a pair of Rover's to review. Rover might be one of the lightest shoes I have ever felt.
I walked Bandon Dunes, 3 days-36 holes a day in my Mojo's and they were incredibly comfortable, lightweight, and waterproof.

How are those in terms of water proofing? It's time to replace my sketchers that have spikes. I am going spikeless, but my other spikeless are FJ Fex, not good in the wetness.

I have the same problem with LL Bean house shoes. Only pair of shoes I have that get a smell to them. I even wear them with socks most of the time.

We always discuss the comfort of golf shoes.
But there's also something else to consider... the stability feel of the shoe during the swing.
I have a pair of $150 Footjoys that I can't stand. They are decently comfortable and waterproof, but during the swing it feels like I have small pieces of plywood on my feet. They allow for very little foot rollover during the swing. Enough so that it actually messed with the whole feel of my swing.
I would like to try the other brands, especially Sketchers. I have been using Adidas for the most part and really like them.

My Mojo's are excellent with waterproofing. I have not tired out the Rover's yet, but the reviews have been very good. The Rover is listed as "water resistant" not waterproof.
The GO GOLF Pro V.4 - Honors received 9 of 10 for Waterproofing. Sketchers has a two year waterproofing warranty on some shoes. Although a little plain in styling, I really like my Skechers GO GOLF Mojo - Punch Shot.

We obviously have different styles. Those aren't plain at all to me. The blue bottom is brutal. I typically rock a classic look so anything with color throws me off. But I'm trying to change it up.

They have some very "plain" styles too. The Pro V4 that Kucher wears is in white and black. The Skechers GO GOLF Pro V.4 and Skechers GO GOLF Drive 4 are the most "plain."

But what shoes do you wear to play golf in?
You’re right, everyone has different styles.
