Callaway Elyte Iron review

Alright, so I’ve been playing srixon zx7’s. Loved them. Felt great, looked great but man when I’d miss a little on the toe I’d get punished but didn’t want a game improvement iron. Went to get fit and then fitter said the new core elyte irons are impressive. I hit them and I loved them. Felt great. Not quite as soft as the zx7’s but not far from it. Extremely forgiving. For instance this weekend I was 145 to the pin. Missed it on the toe. I was pin high and on the right side of the green. Would have been well short with my zx7. Spin is fine. They are a club stronger than my zx7’s so if you compare spin rates that way they are very similar. So 7 iron spins around 6000 which is the same as my zx7 6 iron. 8 iron around 7000 same as my zx7 7 iron.. I’m hitting the 7 iron about 180 carry with little roll out. 6 iron zx7 was around 175. No issues holding greens. They looked great. Same size as my zx7’s and look nothing like GI irons. If you are in the market for a new set I’d definitely try these. I stayed with the same shaft. Modus tour 115x. Love that shaft.

I will echo everything you said here. I bought a set on a whim, and yes, they are about 2° stronger across the board than my T150s. But I'm hitting them higher and further with steeper landing angle. I don't find that I have any gaps across the set despite the strong lofts. And they are so forgiving, particularly on toe misses, which is where my miss is.

I played players and players distance forged irons for a long time. Now, I want to hit it high, straight, and forgiving on my misses. Screw it!
I don’t need to work the ball or be punished for a mishit anymore. I’m never going to make it into champ flight much less the tour. I might as well get all the help I can.
That’s why I switched from my Srixons to Sub70 699pros (their P790s)

Yep. We compared apexs and landing angle to pga averages. All were spot on. I also like that I can hit a draw or fade easy. You can still work them however you want. You just don’t get penalized if you don’t quite hit center face. Also they are extremely consistent on distance. I have not noticed any fliers.
