My wife just bought me a cart bag for my birthday and I’m torn. I’ve always had a stand bag and that’s what I was planning on getting again. This new one is the PING Traverse cart bag. I’ve always ridden and will be getting a push cart soon. Should I keep the cart bag or go back with a stand? Trying to get advice to help look at the pros and cons of each.

My $.02 is use the lighter of the two bags. Walking a course is a lot more work than riding. Not in a bad way, but I'd be using the lighter bag initially and see how you like it.

So cart bags and push carts dont mix sometimes. Be sure to evaluate the orientation of your cart bag. Most of them are designed such that when it is on a riding cart, you driver is toward the front of the cart and the putter slot is toward the back of the cart.

With this orientation on a push cart, your driver is on bottom and all the clubs are falling on each other.

Stand bags orientation works great with push carts as push cart holds the bag at the same angle as when it would be standing. Some stands retract and play nicer with push carts than others.

Went from a cart to a stand bag and just went back to a stand bag (Callaway Org 14) and man on man I didnt realize how much I missed it.

That being said, when I walk I have a push cart.

My dad bought me a cart bag for Christmas last year, and I am counting down the time to when I can buy a new bag without seeming rude. After having it for a while, I don't understand the purpose of it. If it's slightly windy and there is no stand available at the range, I have to lay the bag down because it will fall over.

Even if people feel like the legs get in they way, most stand bags have loops to stop the legs from extending. It just seems like a cart bag is missing a nice feature without offering a different feature.

I have both, for around the house I use my cart bag with a push cart cause I can get more stuff in the bag. Also if I play in a scramble or with buddies that want to ride I don’t have to swap all my crap out. When we go to the beach or travel I take my stand bag. Takes up less room and I can still walk or ride.

I generally don't carry my entire bag to the range

I'll walk up with a PW, 9i, 7i and 5i and hit about 1/3 of the bucket starting with the PW
Take a break, get a feel of where I feel the most comfortable and grab the 8, 6 , 4 and Driver and hit another 1/3
If I'm feeling good, I am done. If not, I'll spend the last third working on whatever club or range I had some struggles with.

But that being said and thinking about it I think all of the ranges I would go to have stands for a cart bag even if I did want to take it.

I love the convenience of having more pockets to keep things like my rain jacket in my bag at all times, having a cooler in my bag to keep a PB&J and an apple cool, straps on the bag to keep it from rotating on my push cart, individual club dividers, a separate slot of my putter, cart strap pass, etc and at around 6lbs it isn't much heavier than my stand bag (Callaway Chev)

The next one I get will be a hybrid. Best of both worlds.

Vessel just launched the Player IV. I have the Player III DXR and it’s awesome. Apparently the 4 is a slightly improved (larger spaces and top to accommodate mid-size/oversized grips) and is less total weight. I highly recommend Vessel bags but do know that they have a reputation for not so great service.

I have the Vessel Player III. Great bag - easy to carry and functions well in a cart. Best of both worlds to me.

They just released the IV and it looks even better
