Planning a golf trip with some buddies for September/October. Were there any locations that you’ve liked more than others? We are leaning towards the Capitol Hill courses in Prattville but are open to any other suggestions. Especially courses that have some elevation changes. Thanks!

Ross Bridge is the best RTJ course i've ever played...

Capital Hill, Grand National, Oxmoor Valley, Cambrian Ridge and Siler Lakes are the one's that I have played.
As a group of eight, we always stayed at Embassy Suites, they always had some great meal deals.

All great. A grand National in Auburn is super.

I enjoyed Cambrian as much as Ross Bridge. But staying in the houses in Prattville is the play.

I’ve played the majority of them and you can’t go wrong with any of them. If you’re looking for elevation change, go with the Huntsville location. All of the sites are spectacular.

Capital hill is great. All 3 courses are awesome.
The on property houses are the move if you’re bringing a lot of sausage.

Have only played The Judge in Prattville and it was fantastic

Played The Shoals, Hampton Cove (Huntsville), Oxmoor & Ross Bridge (Hoover/BHam), and The Capitol Hill (Prattville)courses. For elevation, as someone said earlier, Oxmoor Valley - Ridge Course has some serious elevation changes and is a really nice course. Ross Bridge is more subtle but definitely has some. The Judge at Capitol Hill has the big tee shot on 1 but other than that, it's played in the bottoms. The Legislator there has some nice elevation on the back 9 as it kind of weaves from the bluff to the bottoms and back up.
We stayed at The Marriott at Capitol Hill. It was fantastic. Going to try and get to Grand National for this years trip. I'd go back to any of the sites we've been to other than Huntsville. Just didn't do it for us. The River Course was in good shape but The Highlands Course (which is more scenic) was in mediocre shape at best - greens were trash. Capitol Hill was awesome - all 3 courses, but Ross Bridge is a damn gem. If they had something other than bent grass greens, it would be damn near perfect.

Opting to walk The Legislator was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. The back 9 is nuts in terms of elevation changes

The Shoals are the low key hidden gems of the Trail. Probably the furthest off the beaten path for most people, so I don’t they think get as much play, but they are terrific.

Be sure and play the par 3 courses.
They are not “pitch and putts.”
Most have tees ranging from 120 to 225 yards.
When I was stationed at Fort Rucker, I use to go after work at Highland oaks in Dothan and play the par 3.
The pro would be leaving and always said, “enjoy guys, I’m out.”
Never paid.

Only played Oxmoor Valley Ridge course. Plenty of elevation change with some pretty scenic shots both up and down hill. Only suggestion is a course yardage book or gps. Some of those elevated fairways will kill you off the tee. I hit driver multiple times when I should have clubbed down. Hit great drives that went through the fairways and down the hill into the woods.

I'm guessing the question pertains to the RTJ Golf Trail, but Ive played Green Lakes a number of times and really like it. Lots of elevation and you have to be really dialed in with your placements if you want to make par.
