Golf cleat etiquette. Ok to drive in and wear into the clubhouse?

This is probably a dumb question but what’s the etiquette on where I should wear my golf cleats? I’m just starting to get serious about the game and just got my first pair of cleats. The only cleats I’ve previously owned are football or baseball cleats. So basically wearing them indoors at all unless it was in some sort of mud room was a no go. They got absolutely caked with turf, dirt, etc... and especially baseball metal cleats they’d scratch up any floor and potentially crack tile.
As for golf cleats (mine are soft spikes) do y’all just wear them out of the house and drive with them? Or do you put them on on the course after you’ve checked in and everything. Basically I don’t want to be an a-hole wearing cleats inside a nice clubhouse unless that’s sort of just what happens normally. And I also don’t know if they’re particularly smart to drive with give how uneven the bottom of the shoe is.

You should dig them into the grass out front and frick up their lawn to show them how alpha you are. Every round.

use the little brush things near the clubhouse to clean them off

Flip flops on the drive to course.
Put on golf shoes in parking lot. Walk in clubhouse wearing said shoes... it’s not an issue.

Can’t go wrong with this....just don’t call them cleats

This was my first instinct and what I did when I played organized sports

I second guessed myself and thought maybe that was inappropriate for golf but I see not.

I keep good shoes in a shoe bag and put them on near the first tee box. I ride to the course and go in the clubhouse with my regular sneakers, flip flops, or an old pair of soft spikes

Use the locker room instead, don’t be trashy

Most places it’s cool to change in the parking lot, but be aware that if you get an invite to a real high end private, they might frown on that. Get a shoe bag and change in the locker room in those rare circumstances.

I agree at 99% of courses you play. Just be careful with the high end private clubs. I think the only one in BR that has this rule would be BRCC

Do you mean you have metal spikes or soft spikes? Metal spikes, I don’t wear anymore and never wore them indoors unless I was running in mid-round.
I wear true linkswear golf shoes now and wear them everywhere. I knock them off before entering like I would any shoe.

Pull up, piss behind truck door, put on golf shoes, pack my bag with hidden Miller Lites, go shoot my 98.

Because of years playing basketball and baseball not wearing my athletic shoes anywhere but during play is burned into my brain so I go flip flops or tennis shoes then put my golf shoes on once I get to the cart.
Honestly though I have soft spikes now like everyone else and could probably just wear them to the course with no issues

This. Do not change shoes in the parking lot at a private club. Also many nicer golf courses don’t want you to do this either.

It’s shite like this that makes it hard to grow the game of golf sometimes. Imagine a basketball gym or softball field getting mad at you for changing shoes in the parking lot before your game

I’m in a private club. I have a locker.
I change shoes in parking lot most of the time.
I have had a pro tell me to tuck in my shirt, but nobody has ever scolded me for changing shoes in parking lot.

They provide a locker room for a reason. You don’t have to actually use a locker but can still use the facility. It’s about etiquette and decorum. There is also a difference between a public basketball gym and private golf facility.
