How hard is it to re grip your own clubs?

Anyone here do it themselves?
Pretty much just need the tape, shaft protector, mineral oil, and a vice right?
Hate spending $5 a club when the process looks to be pretty easy.

It is one of my favorite nights of the year. In my shop for a couple hours....bottle of wine....some classic rock. Just in a zone

It’s incredibly easy. I did my last set without a vice, but they didn’t have any alignment marks to line up.

Ridiculously easy. Old tape removal can be tedious sometimes-but a very simple, rewarding process.

May want to do mineral spirits instead of mineral oil.
Also zippo lighter fluid does the trick.

Pretty easy (2-5 mins per club). Buy the ~$20 kit that includes the tape, adhesive, scraper, club rubber holder thing, and a knife. You can do it without clamping or a vice, but a standard C-clamp or wood clamp to the work desk is fine too if you use the little rubber holder.
I use rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone to remove anything sticky.
If you're trying to align a logo or similar on the grip, mark the current shaft with masking tape and a sharpie mark against the current logo so it's quick to realign the new grip if you don't think you have the eye for it.

Use a heat gun, the tape will peel off easy. If you don't have a heat gun, use your old ladies blow dryer on the hottest setting and it will do the same thing.

Great idea! Thanks

Easy. I bought grips off Amazon, went and bought a small cheap vise and mounted it in my garage. LINK
I am able to customize them. I put a layer of duct tape below the 2 sided tape to pad them up a bit more. They’ve stood up for more than 50 rounds, still going strong.

It’s really easy once you get the hang of it. FWIW I like the saplize grips, I have the “CC01” model and they are quite comfortable. They feel like the tour velvet but they are less tapered. Almost like a “Plus 2” type of size. I don’t like the tape that comes with the kit. I just buy regular paper grip tape and use that instead. I think the clear type tape that comes with the saplize grips is hard to use. The grips themselves are great though.

Not hard at all. I highly recommend changing grips yourself. Can even go a step further and change your ferrules yourself.
It’s not necessary, but I recommend because it’s cheap, a lil rubber vice clamp put between your club and vice. Amazon Link

Easy. Use grip solvent not lighter fluid. Have a vice and a club gripper. (Rubber piece to hold the club). Round grips much easier than those with reminder cord.

Very easy. You can get the kit on Amazon. I did it last summer. I didn't have a vice at the time and was still able to get it done.

Very easy, Like others said tape removal can be a pain. If you have a work bench with a vise on it that is huge. For tape and solvent, I order mine from golfworks. The Brampton’s solvent is the best. I have been doing it for years.

Super easy and fun, a yearly ritual for me and a ton of fun.
As long as you don’t care about the alignment stuff on the grips it’s super easy.
Getting the tape off is the hardest part, good news is getting tape you put on off is easier than tape the factory put on.

I use mineral spirits and an air compressor. If the tape is in good shape, I don’t change it. It take almost no time to get it done. I can probably do my whole set in about 20-30 minutes

Razor blade, double sided masking tape and mineral spirits. All available at HD or Lowes. Cut off old grip and remove old tape. Cut new tape one inch shorter than grip and put on club shaft with a little overlap at top. Put finger over top hole in new grip and our a little mineral spirits in big hole at bottom of grip and swirl around. Pour excess over tape you put on shaft. Slide grip on and align. You don't need a vise or shaft clamp. Takes 3 mins per club.

You ever put a couple extra wraps on it?
I know some tour players will play a standard grip with like 3 wraps of tape instead of one.
