How many fairways and greens do you average per round?

How long is the course you play?
What is your handicap?

I usually play from about 6,900 yds.
I hit an average of 10 fairways and 10 greens.

Handicap is 5.1 currently

My fairway misses are not huge misses… mostly in decent spots. My iron play is really letting me down right now.

Shorter course.
I’m about 55% fairways
50% greens
28 putts
4-5 handicap.
I need to hit more fairways

I try to put the fairways, greens, and putts in the GHIN.

According to app, I’m 67% fairways, but only 25% GIR.
Says I make par or better 38%(7 holes or so)

I’m a 10.5 index. Been as low as 7.5, but not lately.

I probably would say I'm usually 60/40 fairways and greens on a normal day...

Now this past Sunday I hit every fairway in regulation... Kicker is I only hit 2 greens in regulation... Really odd day

I play all over but according to my app course distance on my last 20 rounds is an average of 6680yds

Says 41.6% fairway
35.8% greens

28.8 putts

5.5 handicap

If you average 10 GIR on a 6900 yd course and you’re a 5 handicap, you are actually well above average on approach shots relative to your handicap. Might be your short game, bad decision making, and/or putting.

ETA: my handicap is a little lower than yours and I know I wouldn’t average 10 GIR from 6900, probably 8-9. But I’d try to miss in the right spots and get up and down 40-50% of the time

Easy bro, only hit 35% of your greens so have lots of opportunities to chip it close and 2 putt

bad decision making

This is my main problem, I believe.

There are a couple of par 4’s on my home course that, if I hit driver, I end up with 40-50 yard approach shots that I can’t spin enough to stop close to the flag. I know if I hit 3 wood or less and have a full wedge in I can probably get it closer most of the time. I just can’t make myself do it.

Occasionally I’ll hit one into the trees and instead of chipping out sideways and making par or bogey, I’ll try the hero shot and and end up making double or worse. I just can’t resist attempting it because it worked one time

I think for many people that’s the case, especially people that hit the ball fairly well. Common mistakes are going at pins with mid/long irons, tending to underclub by not considering all likely strikes and just consider a good one (particularly harmful to front pins), and refusing to accept that bogey is a good score sometimes. Look up Decade Golf for course management info.

I don’t hit it far enough off the tee.

Straight is good, but I’m sporting 5 wood into a couple of par 4s most days.

If I made more putts inside 8 ft, I’d go down probably 2-3 strokes in index.

I don’t think I’m a very good putter. I miss lots of putts in the 4-8 foot range, probably more than I make

My putting number stays low for 2 reasons.

1. I’m getting better at course management and understanding where I can miss, so I’m leaving myself easier chips that I’m able to get close to the hole and 1 putt.

2. I’m a decent lag putter and green speed reader so I don’t 3 putt very often

Bonus 3rd reason, the courses I play are easy and give you lots of simple chips and straight putts

Apparently so.. I was striping every tee shot and putting every driver shot exactly where I wanted it... For the life of me I couldn't hit an approach shot to save my life.. it was flippin aggravating as hell.. This game I swear..

My GHIN app says 41% GIR and 37% fairways, my miss is left. 8.1 handicap at the moment

That’s only a handful of rounds though. I forget to keep track of all rounds stats

66% FW's
38% GIR
29 Putts
7.9 Index

GIR when playing the SR. tees is much higher but I don't play up there that often.
