Iron Shafts too light?

Got fitted at club champion last year on some KBS $ taper lite shafts and I believe they are 95g, regular stiffness.
I was swinging very over the top back then and I think he plugged them to help fix my slice. was hitting my 6 like 160 in the bay, tough glancing contact all the time.
Swinging much better, inside out these days, 6 iron is 180 but the shafts feel incredibly inconsistent. Tempo is very hard to deal with, feels like I have to swing really soft to keep decent tempo and as a result, absolutely kills my distance. When I try to add more turn, speed/power, things usually go wrong.
I'm 33, 5-10, 185, with decent bench, deadlift and squat numbers, nothing special by any means. Carry some beer fat of course but feel like I should be playing a lot heavier shafts at this point.
Just curious if that looks way off to the standard eye before I go get fitted again.

That's pretty light. Most likely if you're hitting your 6 iron 180, you have enough swing speed for a still shaft.
I'm 36, 6-1, 185, probably below average bench and dont deadlift anymore because of two back surgeries. Not much beer fat but I do have a nice bourbon collection and I use a heavy shaft.
I have the 130g KBS, but I have a fast swing speed and use heavy shafts in all my clubs. I think the average KBS is 100-115ish.
Not sure about way off, but it does seem off. But it could have been right at the time and you've just picked up more swing speed. I love the KBS shafts though.

Got fitted for a 3 wood earlier this year and found numbers.
160 ball speed and 108 swing speed. Not sure if that helps.
Guess I should go get fitted and drop the few hundred bucks.

95 grams is very light. My shafts are 130g. I have a random demo club with a 120g shaft and it’s notably lighter. 95g probably feels like a kid’s club.

Yeah. Those shafts are definitely too light and flexible for you.

With a 108 on w 3W, you're probably around low 90s with a 6i. I w8ould think regular flex C taper light would be way to light and soft for you.

I think I might be able to add a few relevant thoughts here:
I'm a golf instructor and also work at a big box golf store and do loads of fittings.
Customers react mostly to distance numbers. Boss wants us to push lighter clubs, emphasis on distance. (Usually higher end) Honma/XXIO/Callaway Eic Max Star are higher end, lighter and generate more clubhead speed.
The whole situation lends itself to a distorted view of what the golfer should be doing to lower their scores. The shafts are so freaking light the player is liable to hit it all over the place if he cant practice/focus on technique issues.
My current thinking is iron shafts a tad on the stiffer, heavier side keeps your swing from getting out of whack, aids solid contact and keeps the ball flight down. All of this applys to more experienced players, decently strong w no injury issues.

I'm worried about this too. I recently got a new set of Mizuno JPX 921 HM's with Nippon 950gh Neo shafts. I had the 919's prior to these with the Modus 105 shafts. I got the Neos after recommendation from someone I trust with this kind of stuff and trying it out in an 8 iron for a few rounds. The weight difference is not substantial---I think the Modus shafts are 106g and Neos are 97g.
I've played probably 4-5 rounds with them and I can't recall one good shot I've hit. A lot of glancing blows, pulls, super thin shots. I'm nervous I just got a whole new set of the wrong shafts. And if I wanted to try and sell them and get some with the Modus, that's another 2 months of waiting.
I have a pretty quick backswing tempo so I'm thinking I need to work on being a little more deliberate. I just ordered some lead tape, going to see if that helps.

I use 95s and my next set will likely be lighter.
I don’t lift.
I’m old.

If you just got the new clubs I wouldn't panic yet. Might take a month to get used to them.
One thing I'm convinced of is that the club will effect your swing. (For better or worse)
Hit 1000 balls w a shaft/club that is counter-productive to what you are working on technique-wise and you are moving away from good golf.

My thinking for sure. And 108 was my consistent, slower tempo type of swing.
Was probably hitting close to 110 when I really pulled back and went for it.
Just feel like I can't do that at all right now with my irons.
Thanks for the insight fellas.

108 is moving pretty good for a smooth 3wood

After reading what you wrote it’s insane for you to have that regular shaft. Swing speed def isn’t the end all be all for stiffness but you’re probably borderline X flex pending tempo and transition. I’m a more muscular guy and SS with 6 iron is about 99-102 pending the day and i play with 134g shafts. You’re not that far off behind me so I’d say 120ish is probably more accurate just going blind off what you said.

Please have them try various shafts. My experience is slightly different than most.
I’m 5’-8”. Not a strong guy but have decent swing speed. I have been fitted 3 times (golf store, PGA club fitter, & PXG fitter). Every fitting has me in a Project X Rifle 6.5 (115 gram) shaft, standard length. It’s like swinging a rod-iron post. It’s almost the shaft that Rory plays.
They provide me with the best numbers, although on paper, doesn’t add up. It even baffled the PXG fitter, lmao.

Yea, not trying to be a chode or anything but I'm in the gym quite a bit and have worked pretty hard on flexibility over the last year.
Was probably a bad idea getting fitted out of Covid dormancy/semi fatness 1.5 years ago.
Sounds like I need to get back in there and try some different weights.
