Heading to Lafayette for a concert this weekend and have the possibility for a round Sunday before heading back to Ms. What are some decent courses in the area? Doesn't need to be TPC level of nice but somewhere to enjoy a round have a cold one or 2 and let the GF ride on the cart and relax.

You have Farm d' Allie Golf Club and The Wetlands. It's been a while since i have played at these 2 but there were fairly nice courses.

Going to want to play Farm over Wetlands. At least as of a month ago Farm greens were much much better than Wetlands. Rest of both of the courses are usually in solid condition.

How is Vieux Chenes?

I like The Wetlands, decent condition, priced accordingly, good mix of holes.

The Farm is pretty difficult and a pia to get to. Their greens are in great shape and slick too.

I played it yesterday. Tee to green it’s in decent shape. The greens are super grainy and bumpy. Due to the lay out and multiple forced carries on the front, it can be a 6 hour round

Played the Farm yesterday, they punched 2 weeks ago, greens rolled really well. Overall in very good shape, i just don't really like the layout

Lafayette area has to have the worst public golf per capita in the entire south. Just a brutal selection of public courses for how many people live around here

I’ve been out of the area for the last ten years so I couldn’t say. But it was always in decent shape and it’s a fun enough layout. The problem is with VC and Muni being the only two public courses IN Lafayette(and muni being in the ghetto all the traffic is at VC. Place was always packed

Well after searching for tee times for all the open to the public courses in the area it looks like it will be top golf and drinks Saturday then heading home once we wake up Sunday.

Dude whatever you do, please don't play at Vieux Chenes. It is a complete dump. It's the cheapest option in town so it's full of people that don't play golf and its slow AF, not to mention a goat ranch.

The Farm is your best option --- it's a good course and usually not hard to get a tee time.

The Wetlands is a great course too, but it's nearly impossible to get any kind of decent tee time. They block off premium times for "regulars" --- its not advertised but well known. I will call right at 7:00 AM when they open to get a time for a Sunday morning and I always get "sorry earliest we have is 10:30" --- lol really you booked 3.5 hours of tee times in less than 3 minutes? ok

I have personally witnessed 2 fights at vieux chene while hitting balls on the range. People from 10 interacting with folks going to 11 tee box. They may as well put up a sonic in between the two.

Cane Row in New Iberia would have been a good choice for you, but it's a commute from lafafyette.

Played the farm recently. The greens were just punched but the course was in great shape. Fast round as well. The greens should be pretty good by now

As others have said. The Farm and the Wetlands are the best in the area. Both are great courses. It’s been a few years since I’ve played the wetlands because it’s tough to get a good tee time.
The farm can be tough but if you play it right it’s not that bad. There are some tight par 4’s that you won’t want to hit driver on. If you can fade and draw the ball off the tee there’s a lot of holes with trouble on one side but a lot of room on the other. Greens are fast and roll true. It’s in really good shape. The wetlands is a bit longer and a little tighter on the fairways from what I remember.
