Former PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and broadcaster Mark Carnevale died today suddenly at age 64. Guys on Sirius PGA Channel are discussing it now, hard to listen to how heart broken they are. RIP Carney

RIP Mark

What a nice guy he was. When Hattiesburg had the Magnolia Classic, I played pool with/against Mark at a bar for beers. He was funny, engaging and a very good pool player.

RIP

Magnolia Classic

That’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. I skipped school for a few days one year and caddied at that event. I told the school I was going to DC with my parents. I told my parents I was going to DC on a school trip. I slept in my car in the USM golf course parking area. Couldn’t believe I got away with it.

Sadly pickleball is a whole new revenue stream for orthos and cardiologists

People who haven’t done any movement in decades all of a sudden finding pickleball and going full throttle.

A good friend had a heart attack while playing. He didn't have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, and zero indication from his last physical he was at risk. 100% blockage of the widow maker.

Also know someone who shredded their Achilles on the first serve of their very first pickleball match.

Not surprising - most that play are in the 60+ years category.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Carney at PGA Tour Live the last few years. He was always great to be around - great sense of humor, good story teller, and a tremendous golf brain. On the course, he was a true professional who was very easy to work with.

Gonna miss him.
