One of the best videos out there on how to make a backswing/shoulder turn

Paddy does a great job explaining a complicated move simply.
You have to TILT as well as turn, mainly tilt in the backswing.
Almost everyone just turns their shoulders but does not include the tilt.
Your left shoulder has to move DOWN to the ball as you tilt your shoulders in the backswing to get the hands in an efficient spot to strike. Left shoulder moving down is crucial.
Great video here.

You would never ever make contact with the ball of you don’t tilt.

Look at how he’s able to hurt, hold, and talk. I would be just grunting

A good drill I was taught was to cross the arms (hands touching oppo shoulder with a club in the arms. The grip is pointing dow the target line. Make the shaft point to the ball. You can even do it up against a wall with your ball cap almost touching the wall. Don’t let the grip hit the wall.
I really like how he show that right elbow tucking back. Start the lawn mower.

Seems like a great dude as well.

I would bet 95% of golfers are over-rotated on the backswing and not nearly tilted enough, shoulders turning too level.
I've just messed around last few weeks on tilting hard on the backswing and contact has been unreal, your body automatically clears when you do it right. It feels insane tho, feels like my left shoulder is dropping a foot to the ball.

That first shot from the back is great, you can see how much his shoulder drops and he tilts before he rips the frick out of the ball.

Been working hard on this the last couple weeks as well and my ball striking has improved substantially.
My feel/swing thought is that I'm turning (pressuring) my left shoulder down into my right heel as hard as I can on the backswing. It feels like loading a spring and the downswing is just automatic

I had the good fortune in may of 2018 to be asked to come up to Dallas area to hang out with Padraig and about 7 other guys. We all sold stuff for Mutual of Omaha.
We were able to have a lesson from him on the range, putting green and then have dinner with him. On the range he explained things as simple as this and at dinner you would of thought that he was your grade school pal, no one in the room was left out of the conversation and he was just one of the guys so to speak. He held court with funny stories about himself and stories of life on the tour.

Great guy. I’d love to have a round and a beer with him and Darren Clarke and John Daly!
