Ping G430 10k Review

To start, this is just my "opinion" after playing 27 holes with this club.
After 27 holes , I can't say that I was overly impressed or saw the extreme forgiveness listed in their marketing claims.
Ping says that the 10k fits between the LS and the 430 Max as far as spin, I would say that is correct.
They say it exhibits extreme forgiveness and that's where it gets very tricky, because of robot testing and manufacturing tolerances allowed.
The 10k that I have really overstated my draw which didn't make me happy. I would swear this particular head feels very draw bias.
Honestly, it's a big footprint of a driver and it was noticeable to me compared to my G430 Max.
Is it longer than the 430 Max - I would say no, and I not sure that Ping claims it to be.
Is it more forgiving than the 430 Max, I didn't find that to be true for me.
Summary - If we are being honest, Drivers Heads are probably maxed out and have been for a couple of years now if you hit it dead center. Is the 10k technology the next great thing or is it marketing only ? Is this driver better than my G430 with the same shaft ? My answer is not really and I am not as comfortable with the larger footprint.
Bottom Line - Personally, I will be sticking with my G430 Max driver and returning the 430 10K.
* This is not to discourage anyone from trying this new club, because every head you pick up is different and what didn't work for me ,may be the club for you.

Thank you for your review. You probably saved me $800-$1,000.
I have the G425 LST and it has been an awesome driver for me. The Callaway Smoke driver and the Cobra Darkspeed have also peeked my interest, but for me to switch, I would need to gain a good amount of distance and improve my dispersion.

Thanks.
FWIW, A fitter I know said that the Darkspeed had the highest ball speeds of all of the new drivers he has tested.

The Darkspeed and the PXG Black Ops have my interest peeked.
However, I know deep down, I’m just going to wait for the next Titleist

Thanks for the review. My G425 LST will stay in the bag for a while now.

The 10K MoI thing is a lot of marketing.
The USGA put a 5,900 g-cm^2 MoI limit on the rotational (vertical) axis of drivers 20 years ago.
So what these 10K MoI claims are doing is increasing the MoI about the horizontal axis and then adding them to the 5,900 maximum to get the 10,000 number.
So when you see the slow motion pictures of toe hits rotating more in an older driver, it’s probably a farce. By rule, any driver made after 2004 cannot have any more inclination to resist rotation about the vertical axis than 5,900 g-cm^2.

Same club for me. In particular i prefer the smaller head on the LST than the MAX. Sounds like the 10k has a big ol head on it. Probably not what im looking for. But i do love a ping driver.

You can't buy a game. But you can spend a lot of money looking for it.

That's ok, I have done well in life.
I don't think about the cost, it's about the adventures.
I'm 68 and still big & strong, but I know that I could be dead in 10 years, why not enjoy the things that make you happy.

I'm generally a fan of Ping drivers (played the G425 Max for a while, had a G400 as well), but this G430 Max 10K just looks obnoxiously large. It's very stretched out and the face just isn't tall enough for me. Granted, I haven't hit it, but looking down at it does not inspire confidence.
I did pull the trigger on a Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke ??? yesterday and initial testing was very promising. I'm waiting on an upgraded shaft to put in it and some weights to dial in the swingweight, but even with the stock shaft cut down to my preferred playing length (44.5"), I was seeing consistent distance gains vs my gamers (Titleist TSR2 and TSR4) with crappy range balls and Trackman. The reports of toe hits being much better vs last year's version are definitely true. Hit a lot of high launch, low spin bombs on slight toe hits.

Good for you, I hope that Cally continues to work out well for you.
There are really no bad drivers on the market. I believe that the new Mizuno is highly underrated.
I really want to try the Mizuno and the Darkspeed outside soon.

Appreciate the review. I've had a few pings over the years that I really enjoyed. Interestingly mygolfspy just rated it the no.1 driver by a pretty decent margin. I've been hearing good things about the new paradym drivers as well (they were 2nd and 3rd in mygolfspy).

I'll take it off your hands

I saw that and I am not surprised by it at all scoring well in accuracy and forgiveness.
My review was compared to my current G430 driver and if I could tell a big difference since my G430 is already forgiving and accurate for me.

I bought mine about a month ago.
I’ve noticed that my slight fade has turned into straighter shots to a slight draw. I like the balance of the club. I’ve noticed that even when it feels like when I hit it out toward the toe of the club, it still has good distance and although it feels like it should be a slice it isn’t.
I’ve improved my distance by about 20 yds also. Just feel like I can rip this driver and not slice.
