Apparently they are building a chipping/practice area over between 13 and 18. Pretty excited

I played the ole girl Saturday after not playing for a year and was surprised, the greens were pretty good. She's in good shape.
Webb for all intents and purposes should be a gem here, it's in a primo spot in the city.
Whatever happened to the bar they were supposed to build where the old workout room was located?
Webb could be fantastic if they did it right.

Wasn’t it because it was too close to a school?

Let me know when they get the greens like the practice green
Hole 1 is awful
The course has dramatically improved over the past few years. So a lot of kudos there.

Played 12 holes after work yesterday. It's in good shape for Webb. I've played worse conditioned greens at nicer courses. Fairways are in surprisingly good shape.
For $11 to walk after 5, it beats hitting shitty driving range balls off mats at Santa Maria.
EDIT: lsu13lsu will be along shortly to tell me how I'm not supposed to enjoy cheap golf after work and it's all BREC's fault, yadda, yadda, yadda.

quote:That's the biggest difference I've seen with the new super, fairways have been far better. Still wish they'd stop overseeding the greens with rye grass in the winter.

Haven't played it yet since I've been hearing all these rave reviews, but am excited to get out there soon.
I went to high school with the super and he's been playing there all his life. Glad to hear it's in great shape, I hope he continues to improve it. So much nostalgia growing up and playing there.

Having played near 1k rounds there growing up a block from the course, this is the best shape its been in since I was in high school. It took a nose dive after Beaver opened and a back seat in the City redesign. Gretta(who has run the course for two decades) believes she could get a major reno after they are done with the greenwood redevelopment. She has already seen an increase in budget allocation following the closure of half of dumas.
It would be great to seem them really get this course in great shape. I have been to many old courses with similar vibes and setups crammed in the middle of a developed city. Bobby jones in ATL and Highland in Bham are two good examples. I would be excited to if there is a redesign what changes could be made other than tees and greens. There is a little room to play with hole design, especially if they can move the maintenance area.

Sell what is across college and the canal. Use that money to make a sweetens cove esque 9 holer with an awesome range and short game area
