When did it shut down? I didn't realize it had. What was the reason? Any talk of it reopening?

It was one of the more hyped courses in the state when it opened. I was just looking in the area to maybe go play there, and had no idea it was kaput.

It closed Monday, September 2021. It has been repurchased by Millard Callicott who was trying to reopen it, but got delinquent on the taxes. He hired Arnold Palmer Golf Design and Signet Golf to renovate it but nothing has been done.

One of the biggest golf tragedies out there.

Played it many times, wife's grandparents lived off of 18.

Was an incredible course.

A gem that is gone.

The original developer has it now and is working to get investors to reopen. He wants to do the whole deal with full resort hotel etc.
Going to need 12M to just get the course back playable. Another 30+ for the resort he wants.

Its a long shot but he has parish and state support plus tax incentives in his favor.

This is how I’d spend money if I were a billionaire.

Harold will get it done...the area has been evolving last several years and is ripe for it, I believe...

I truly want to. But that’s $12 million (or $42 million) that won’t see a ROI.
It’s gonna take a billionaire.

My favorite course in the state when in good shape. Have an Aunt who still lives out there. Wife and I were looking at lots out there the week before Katrina hit.

The new clubhouse was an albatross before the course went down. You would need a ton of rounds or a lot more in green fees to support the renovation and the expenses of the clubhouse which would be tough given the nearby population and the area economics.

This said, I would love to see it.

Yeah, I don't see how a 12 mil renovation would elevate it to a destination place. Honestly, you would be better finding another piece of property and bring in Doak or Collins and King to create something better.

Considering just their fees are probably 5 million, property 5 million, infrastructure 5 million materials/equipment 5 million. You nay be right. The Bluffs layout forces you to constantly fight mother nature.

I remember playing this course once w my father before he passed. Bummed I cannot play it again for nostalgic reasons.

I don’t remember much about the area, but is it possible there is enough land there in the close by area for a second course? Seems like it could then become a possible golf destination trip type of place. The layout of Bluffs was great.

Yes the course that couldn’t support its self just needs another course to fix all the problems.

The original plan and vision was 36 holes with small membership and the rest funded via resort set up.
300 room hotel, conf center, business areas, wedding areas, and 36 holes prime golf. The plans stalled obviously

I was just being an arse because I thought it was funny. But honestly, the only thing saving the Bluffs would be if Saint Francisville gets the data center and the tax money they’re thinking it will generate and the Parish takes it over.

Long shot

There’s a lot of dreams about what the course should be, but it just can’t be what we all imagine it should be. It’s a HUGE high maintenance track. The greens are massive. The bunkers are way too many and impossible to keep manicured. It’s spread out as much as any course in south LA. It’s way out in the country where labor is scarce.

$12 million to renovate? So they want to bring it all to original design. That’s just a waste. The Felicianas are very pretty, but it’s not a hot bed for resort living. It can’t sustain resort play or membership. It’s a bottomless pit with that plan.
