What is up with Matthew Wolff?

He was an up and coming star last year and now he’s shooting 80s, withdrawing, and getting disqualified from tournaments. I’ve read about some mental health issues, but it’s sad to see how quickly this is unraveling for him. Hope he’s not another Smylie Kaufman.

He has 10x amateur and professional resume. You have to think he'll be back. He's only like 21/22 with a win, a second in a major last year, and a ton of good results.

Its 100% psychological with him and it doesn't help that he's extremely emotional.
He needs to see a sports psychologist, take a few months off from competing and work on his mental shite. Maybe use that time to sharpen up his game a little. You can tell sucking has killed his mojo. Time to regroup if I were him.

I was always under the impression this is kinda his thing. He can shoot really low or put up some big numbers.
Admittedly I didn’t follow his college career but I’ve really enjoyed watching him on the tour. One of my favorite guys to watch hit the ball.

That swing is going to take a tremendous amount of timing, it's the nature of the beast.

It’s a very thin line between contending and missing cuts. I’m sure he’ll get it worked out. He’s extremely talented.

Wolff finished runner-up at the 2017 U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championship. After initially committing to play college golf for the University of Southern California, Wolff withdrew his commitment to attend Oklahoma State. In his first year, he earned four runners-up, first-team All-American honors, and the Phil Mickelson Award as the nation's top freshman. He also made the putt to clinch the 2018 NCAA Division I Championship for Oklahoma State.
Wolff began his sophomore season with back-to-back stroke play titles at the Carmel Cup and the OFCC Fighting Illini Invitational, which he followed up by sharing medalist honors at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. The three consecutive wins brought Wolff to the top of the college rankings.
Thank you, try again.

Clearly Wolff needs to focus more on his strokes gained stats

People say shite like this all the time about professional golfers and it drives me crazy. He's obviously had the timing down for the last 5 years considering he was an elite amateur, the best college golfer in the country, and won on tour as a rookie...
Johnny Miller used to have this same dumb take about Justin Thomas getting on his toes and how it would never hold up under pressure down the stretch...

Joel Dahmen tweeted something this morning insinuating about his mental health. Hopefully it's not bad, but it kind of seems that way.

Lol winning the Haskins award is certainly no guaranty of being a successful pro, the list is full of guys you've never seen on tour.
Clown take
And he shot a zillion under pressure in the U.S. Open, that move is going to take perfect rhythm, moreso than say a sound fundamental golf swing. Sorry you don't understand fundamentals.

Feel like I just read a disgrunteled text message from a high schooler. The only part of the swing that matters is impact position, not what it looks like to get there. Wolff will be just fine.
