66 years old. 6 feet tall - 180 lbs. Pretty healthy. Looking to gain strength and flexibility after being sedentary for too long. Seeing a lot of ads for chair exercises. Do they work?
Any and all recommendations welcomed.

I don’t have personal experience with them as they seem pretty conservative as measures to gain strength. Seems like it’s just calisthenics using a chair as a prop, in which case you could use anything to elevate your body and provide resistance. Calisthenics certainly works for strength and flexibility.
That said, I’m sure they help for marginal increases in strength and mobility/flexibility and will add something to the calorie burn, but if you’re already pretty healthy, I would focus more on substantive proven resistance training techniques. I’m sure things like band work, Pilates, and gym routines would have more profound effects than using a chair as a prop.
Would be surprised to see anyone comment that chair exercises have provided any profound health change in the absence of other variables…

Good advice, thanks. A couple of years age I was doing 50 pushups in the morning and walking 3 miles in the afternoon on some strenuous trails. Had some prostate issues and got lazy. Just need a kick in the arse!

I would be thinking outside of the chair if sedentary has been your problem. Mix up yoga, body weight exercises, and as much walking as you have time for.

You could also look at a second hand TRX. It’s easy to take an exercise from easy to harder and back.
