Gyms requiring masks while working out

My YMCA has recently gone to a requirement that masks be worn at all times, including during exercise. Anyone else having to put up with this BS? Seems like pure theater to me.

My gym requires you to wear one while walking in and out.
If no one is around me why the frick am I wearing a mask?
I don't.

Time to find a new gym.

My gym doesn’t. It’s nice to go somewhere and feel normal.

Ours started requiring them to be worn at all times a couple months ago when the governor had a hissy fit. Only one of the managers is strict about it, the rest dont seem to care so I usually don’t have one on.

But they never enforce having to wear them properly.

Ours was super strict starting last July but ever since months ago no one gives a frick besides walking in and out.

My YMCA was strict for about a week when the mandate started.
Now no one cares. I haven't worn a mask at the gym in months.

In Chicago, you absolutely have to wear a mask in the gym. It sucks alot, but you get used to it kinda. For deadlifts, squats, or anything heavy, I drop it below my nose for the set

Should just close

Most gyms up here do, although most people pull them down below their noses while working out.

Any politician who mandates this has never worked out before.
I was doing a circuit of weighted dips, push ups and overhead presses, if I had to wear a mask for that shite I'd pass out.
My gym says this is the case as well but they don't enforce it at all. They don't even enforce masks period. I think they just have a masks required at all times sign at the entrance for show.

That's because YMCA's are now trendy, upper middle class liberal workout facilities. I'm really not sure how this happened because back in the day it was a charity and youth hostel/shelter. Now most YMCA's charge twice the fees of other gyms. Granted, they offer more and most of their facilities are sparkling and massive and brand new, but that's kinda my point. Somehow they became Globo-Gym over the past 20 years.
ETA: But to your point, since most YMCA's are upper-middle class gyms for scared soccer moms and virtue signalers, wearing a mask while doing treadmill sprints seems perfectly reasonable to them. That would never fly at my hole in the wall gym and I'm in liberal Washington state.

The local Planet Fitness asks that you wear a mask while entering and leaving, not while working out. However, none of this is enforced.

My gym has always done the mask mandate from the jump. I just roll up a bandana and cross it over the bridge of my nose, with hardly a flap of cotton hanging down just for show
Most of the time I forget it's pulled down completely when I'm doing cardio. A couple of times they've said something to me, all I have to do is tell them I'm having a hard time breathing and they leave me alone.
At least where I'm at, that's all you ever have to say and they cant really enforce the mask fiasco

Mine doesn’t. Perks of going to a locally owned gym instead of a corporate one like Planet Fitness or LA Fitness. They can decide what rules they want to break.

Ground for finding a new gym IMO

My old gym you had to have it covering mouth and nose the entire time. This was on top of having all equipment completely spread out and a limited amount of people allowed in at once.
I finally had enough and I’ve joined a new place. It’s not as nice but I only have to have the mask on going in and out. Love it.

Pussy. I’ve done supers of Bulgarian split squat holds and regular squats without taking a mask down. Same for pull-ups Supered with pullovers.
I’m convinced you all are melodramatic AF.

Melodramatic is wearing a cotton t-shirt on your face that has a tag saying not for disease prevention. There is not a single peer reviewed publication precovid stating masks prevent the spread of a virus. And those were real masks like n90’s. You are being played...
